Well, almost to the end, and it looks like the swordmage might just squeak by to live for one more round :) . Personally, I don't mind if the pally gets it.

As I type this, the swordmage is just a bit ahead of the paladin. While I love the paladin's flavor and theme, I just feel the current mechanical incarnation doesn't do it justice.

Perhaps. I think Dex is at least as good as Wis. The only think I can think of is that thematically Wis is the "perception" skill, and you use that to see into the future, navigate the currents of luck and fate, or whatever it is prescient bards do to use their powers.

My personal favorite martial controller idea is the mastermind, which is similar the general concept mentioned earlier. He uses uncanny foresight, guileful deception, and penetrating insight to stymie his foes and manipulate the flow of battle. Part of his arsenal might include loyal henchmen...

I predict the Swordmage is getting the axe this round ... Not that I want them to lose out or anything.

I very much like PH2-style backgrounds (of which the Primal Power excerpts are an example). They don't have weird, feat-like effects, and they add a nice touch of flavor to characters. They remind me of Aspects from Spirit of the Century, although admittedly they are a bit smaller in scope.

I'd say for an LG paladin laws are a means to the end of goodness. I'd have no problem with a paladin flouting the "authority" of devils in their home plane.

Well, as long as the final class isn't a paladin or ranger, I'll be okay with whoever wins. I dislike the V-shaped classes muchly. :)
