I always thought that you got xp for the gp but you did not have to (or be able to) carry it all off with you. So you find 10k gp in copper; you get the xp even though you might not bother taking any of it.

I find the 5 minute day confusing. What kind of adventure allows a party to take a long rest after every encounter? It never comes up at me table- they take short rests all the time, though.

That's not what I said. What I'm getting at is that I can't see how anyone's creativity is being stifled.

How does it stifle creativity? Create the guy you want and say that they don’t have fancy wild powers due to <insert background here>. Make it part of the guy’s arc. Unless it’s the wild powers you’re after and the fluff is window dressing it won’t matter.

If it needs killing it needs killing. Either for it’s loot or xp.

So I was glancing at the new race format in MPMOTM and if you leave out the stat boost they seem fine to bolt on Culture and Background (but not heritage) from the Level Up books (although there are no paragon powers). Am I missing something obvious?

Yeah. It’s the armour bypass role. And if you have a shield you negate all damage on a roll of a on 1d6. Good times.

It’s not so much that they are stronger than their CR might indicate more than their CR is more dependable as a measure of danger and they have a few more interesting options than MM mobs. But any third party monster book will do that for you. I try to avoid MM mobs for that reason.
