Crikey. Reading all this makes me feel a bit inadequate as a DM. My games seem to run more like music videos (circa 2002)/ tv ads, instead of literature.

I try to make it feel like a mushroom trip. Handy for those of my group who’ve done mushrooms.

I’ve started running a game similar in style to traditional European fair tales. It’s heavy on the morality tale angle and more sinister than any of my previous games.

This is the opposite to what I do as a DM. I never really use random tables. If I do I roll them in advance and curate the outcomes to match what I want to happen. My take on the fun of being a DM is know that the fun the players have is down to my choices of what makes a good game for my players

Not me. I narrative the naughty word out of npc combat so the wrong one doesn’t die or we waste too much time in session.

My group played the Hadley's Hope senario- brilliant fun, super tense right up until the end game when they were trying to get to the shuttle. By that time I was super drunk so I chucked in some Royal Marines Commandos and a Predator to make things end with a bang.

I think Evil in the game is something that you do, rather than what you are. So unless the shop keeper or the goblin were doing something evil it would be undetectable.

I don’t really use wandering encounters so I normally have a good idea how prepared the party will be when the get to each fight.

I keep it simple. Toffs at the top. Plebs at the bottom. The party in the middle trying to take advantage of both.

I think it depends on the group. My group hate having to come up with personal motivations. They want to be swept up in an ongoing drama.
