Yeah, I more or less agree with this. Having too much invested in the story coming out the way you want it is honing to make a rod for your own back.
I take the view that arc encounters only really need to be about 20% of encounters.
My group are definitely not theatrical in that way. They seem to prefer a strong story that they can be part of, influence it’s outcomes and have laugh.
But most of us are in our late 40s early 50s
What about Warlock, Ranger and Paladin spell lists? I’m not sure the old concepts of arcane, divine and primal map too well with the class based spell lists.
I’m sure I saw on a screen of her bio (in the film) that she was looking at in an early scene that she is called Marie Raines Carradine.
But everyone calls her Rain.
Shadowrun uses (or at least it used to) ‘archetypes’. You could easily whip up a few iconic builds on a full page spread so players could jump right in.
