I seem to remember that cross bows were great for the relatively untrained but as you got to the more highly trained bowmen bows could be fired much quicker.

I really like the show. And I like the English brevity. Can’t imagine it being stretched out over 24 episodes. I do hope it makes a better fist of the battle in Geaven than the books did.

That seems like a lot of hard work. What I do is ask if the attack routine will kill the tank in four rounds and can it render powerless party members. Given all that, if the dpr guys can’t kill it in four rounds it’s probably too tough. That’s seen me right for ages.

I ran a game with a PC being an Aaracocra ranger (who could fly). The big thing it did was make the party able to plan for the encounter. I can’t remember there being any issues and we played for about a year. It was a Dark Sun game.

My metric is: how many laughs do I get. My games are Sir Pratchet via Rick and Morty so for me it’s all about how much fun my players have. So I go all in with accents, tropes and the effectiveness of being genre savvy

SAGA was really good. I made a decent fist of balancing Jedi. Obviously it failed at that particular issue but it was great if you didn’t have Jedi.

One of my guys still gets huffy when I have to again tell her she has disadvantage if she uses her long bow in melee or will take an OA if she does not use the disengage action after over a year of being an archery ranger 😫
