Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

This is too much of an interesting thread to let fall off the first page. There is no 'gambling' skill per se in Pathfinder. When the PCs at the time encountered some NPCs over a few games of poker, I had to improvise skill checks for winning at gambling. We didn't actually play with cards. If...

    Writing a module

Is there a handy guide for writing PF modules I could use? If not, what are a few well-designed modules I could use as examples of how to put together an adventure module? I've not got much money to pick up anything on Amazon or otherwise but I'm hoping to have a look at a few downloadable...

Pathfinder 1E World of Golarion going Lovecraft too much?

As well, if Cthulhu/Lovecraft is in, where does that put Conan the Barbarian? IIRC Howard's setting was antediluvian Earth so the solar system somewhere in the same material plane?

Pathfinder 1E World of Golarion going Lovecraft too much?

I haven't got an issue with it. The content can be there but you don't have to use it or even pretend it exists. Distant Worlds is the same way--in your campaign if no one ever leaves Golarion and nothing ever visits it from offworld, then for all intents and purposes there are no other...

    Kill the fighter

After reading this thread, I can say I'd go either way. All generics with talent trees or whatever you want to call them, or else all specialized classes without a generic Fighter (or generic anything else).

    Kill the fighter

The only 10th+ spells from PFCR I can picture are Wish & Miracle. Everything else should stop at 9th.

Need help fleshing out a 'karma' action-point system

How much of an improvement would it be if I simply eliminated the alignment-based aspects? I will see about rewriting the system to bring the emphasis to "accomplishing heroic (or perhaps infamous) deeds" rather than "being a goody-goody type person." Overall I would prefer to keep the notion...

The Four (or Five) Primary Classes

I have a hard time picturing Sorcerer as "just a different kind of wizard" because of its spontaneous casting. There is something else about spontaneous casting that influences the role of a class beyond the list of spells which the class uses. It's important enough that spontaneous caster...

    Kill the fighter

I think that part of this sacred-cow mentality of the fighter having to be "the nonmagic guy who hurts people and breaks things" is due to accepting some of the assumptions that have been built into D&D from almost the beginning. The number-one assumption is that a PC shouldn't be allowed to...

Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

From the players' side of things, not all that much. From my side, it simplifies calculating NPC skill ranks and hit points very nicely.

Or do trait trees like they did in d20 modern.

Need help fleshing out a 'karma' action-point system

The idea behind that is: being good gets you the most points, while being non-chaotic is also helpful. You don't get anything for being chaotic or evil, so CE characters are in trouble, whereas LG and NG are the best off.

Need help fleshing out a 'karma' action-point system

To quickly summarize what I want to do: I want some house rules similar to Hero Points or Action Points that PCs can earn and spend in order to "fudge" dice rolls. I also want to reward good behavior over bad behavior. Additionally there is the ability for PCs to "go into debt" with karma points...

Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

I want to add to my previous posts that when it comes to the +1 hp or +1 skill point allotted for favored classes, I simply award both (and have not considered allowing any of the alternative favored class bonuses).

    Kill the fighter

Here is a good question for Next: Why should we keep the Fighter class? It sounds radical on the face of it, but really, it is the logical thing to do. Let's look at all the Fighter-like classes we already have. Barbarians: they fight by raging and taking inhuman amounts of damage. Paladins...

Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

The threat of accidental equipment breakage would be an interesting problem for PCs to solve if superior magical equipment could threaten to break inferior magical equipment once in awhile. * Magical combat items (that is, anything from the Arms & Armor category and certain Rods) are...

Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

I also wanted to address fumble rules but in a separate post. In principle I dislike fumble rules on the principle that every system I've seen illogically hurts you more, the better your character is at fighting (more attacks = more opportunities to fumble, in other words). The best fumble...

Pathfinder 1E What are your Pathfinder houserules?

This requires some thought...I have thought of many to use, but only implemented a few of them, which follow here. (1) I've come to grant PCs a free rank in a single profession skill, to represent "non-adventuring knowledge". One of them had Profession (miner)...see #7 below (2) I tend to...

Teleportation range limits and epic teleportation

On the other hand, Distant Worlds has a gaseous atmosphere for even Aucturn even though it falls into the range of the Kuiper Belt. (For what it's worth, Pluto is known to have an atmosphere though nowhere near the pressure/density of anything found on Earth.)

Teleportation range limits and epic teleportation

Going "over the hump," and if my calculations are right, 130,000 mi should be enough to cover half the mean circumference of any terrestrial planet and all gas giants except Jupiter (~41,400 mi in radius).
