    DMs! Who are YOUR composers?

What he said. That's for fantasy games. For science fiction, I would pick Vangelis.

    World Adventure Writing Month 2008

Well, I'm in. I'm unlikely to finish an adventure in time, but I'll get started and can then wrap up the work at a later date, when I've regained motivation. Also, it's a good opportunity to work on a looser format than what I'm used to (Living Greyhawk, with its occasionally draconian...

What Campaign Settings will you purchase?

Depends. If they make Planescape, or Dark Sun, or Spelljammer or even Ravenloft, staying faithful to the style of the original and not developing it well, I may pick them up and mine them for ideas. Looking at the fate of the Forgotten Realms, though, I don't have high hopes.

July '08: What are you reading?

Sandy Mitchell's Ciaphas Cain, Hero of the Imperium. It's an omnibus edition of the first three Ciaphas Cain novels for WH40K. I'm now halfway through the second book. After that, I think I will return to Neal Stephenson and read The Diamond Age and Zodiac.

    tea time!

I prefer Lady Grey tea, with a spoonful of honey and a bit of cream. I tend to consume an average of four mugs of tea per day. I use half-liter mugs, too.

Real Locations that should be fantasy

Indeed, Centralia, PA. It was used as inspiration for the movie Silent Hill.

    So is it fun?

Pretty much, and what little else there was felt deeply embarrassing to all concerned.

    So is it fun?

Yeah, we did. The combat encounters in Keep on the Shadowfell got old fast, so we mocked it all and a good time was had, despite the numerous attempts of the game and the adventure to get in the way.

    Dungeon Adventure: Heathen

Agreed, the KotS style was good - indeed, pretty much its single redeeming feature. I wonder why they didn't run with it.

    Dungeon Adventure: Heathen

The delve format wastes space and breaks up the natural flow of the module, which leads to unnecessary page-flipping. Of course, since this particular railroad is unplayable as written (), it's not such a great flaw, but I'd prefer it if they switched to something more readable. The landscape...

Escape From Sembia is released, sort of

I believe it's the monthly kit sent to retailers for running D&D Miniatures and D&D events. It includes miniatures repaints as league prizes and printed versions of short D&D adventures that have lately been excellent for making people never want to play D&D ever again. Escape from Sembia is...

    WotC Homepage Video

Yeah, and that Flash could stand to be a whole lot more metal. As it is, it's just embarrassing for all concerned.

So, who's looking forward to 4E Forgotten Realms?

I'm not so much looking forward to it as awaiting with morbid curiosity the trainwreck that I am sure it will be, in both the sourcebooks as well as the Living Forgotten Realms campaign. I'll be sticking with the 3.5 Realms for my Faerûn gaming. Craters, I've found, have little story potential.

    KotS poster map Q

Nope. I believe they're designed to be recreated by dungeon tiles.

    KotS poster map Q

Two of them are from the Fantastic Locations packs. One has King's Road and Dungeon of Blood from Fields of Ruin and another has Dragondown Grotto and Forest Cliff Lair from Dragondown Grotto. The third poster has all-new maps. One of them is a big temple of Orcus and the other one is a...

I think this as interesting idea, and may participate, if wallet and time allow. Will hold off on guessing for now.

What is the FONT they are using in KotS?

Proving that there's a strange demand for this type of information, there's an unofficial FAQ about the fonts used by TSR and WotC for different product lines. http://www.geocities.com/rgfdfaq/tsrfonts.html

What is the FONT they are using in KotS?

You'd love Stalker, then... It's 242 pages of orderly, paragraphed Comic Sans! May even be available in English, sometime in the future. All the world will know the joy of Comic Sans!

    will 4.0 succeed?

My prediction is that 4E will be successful for an RPG, but not wildly successful. I don't see it being much more popular than 3E was, really. The marketing has been pretty horrible. It remains to be seen whether this will be successful enough for Hasbro.
