    D&D 4E 4e Playtesters revealed!

I'm there, though, predictably, sans my umlauts. It's Särkijärvi, damn it!

    Keep on the Shadowfell preview

A friend of mine would like to know if the module has playtester credits. Thanks for the answers, thalmin.

    MMO grinding and D&D Insider

Indeed. Just yesterday I posted in my blog about how we went about solving the issue of bad LG modules. Won't work at most cons, though, and wouldn't suggest using it as a solution for bad DMs. Especially ones you don't know personally. For what it's worth, I don't think making "grinding" LFR...

    Chat.... Chat?

I'd vote for Otherworlders.org, too. It's worked fine thus far, and we have an extant community on #dnd3e. Personally, I would not bother with a chatroom I couldn't access with an IRC client.

"spectre of the black rose" or "elminster in hell"?

Eh. Elminster in Hell is one of the weaker Elminster novels. I like Greenwood's prose, but he doesn't seem to do plot arcs very well, and his characters tend towards the caricaturish. Spectre of the Black Rose was decent, but I prefer the first part, Knight of the Black Rose. I thought the...

    D&D Minis on the Decline?

The last set I was excited about was Blood War. The sets since then have had a couple of nice minis each, but nothing that jumps out. Additionally, the Desert of Desolation set felt somehow lacking in DDM use. It was like fielding two artillery units of glass cannons against each other. It led...

I have the Dungeons of Dread poster here's a set list

The Caves of Chaos map was already in Fantastic Locations: Frostfell Rift. Now I'm wondering if Keep on the Shadowfell also has recycled maps.

    Has anyone seen this module?

Not to my knowledge, though there was a Living Greyhawk Core Special module played at big conventions set in the Ghost Tower.

How Is This For a Gaming Haul?

As I recall, there are no character generation rules even in the rules booklet.

    Adaption of 'Demonweb Pits' (SPOILERS)

Theoretically, but only theoretically. Those prices are ridiculously high for a Living Greyhawk character, who at the levels of Expedition to the Demonweb Pits will be lagging pretty well behind the gold curve. It's theoretically possible to have 50K at level 10, but in practice it'd mean you...

Vile Darkness as an official resource

Mmh... I think the LG adventure writing guidelines forbid giving access to anything from BoVD to the players. A writer I know has several times tried to slip past Profession (torturer) checks, but they've always been caught and removed by the editors. On the other hand, the one adventure I've...

Forgotten Realms - What Gods and Languages Does Kara-Tur Have?

According to Thomas M. Costa's article "Speaking in Tongues" from Dragon Annual 4... In Shou Lung, they speak Kao the Shou (High Shou). The T'u Lung speak T'u Lung. The Koryans speak Koryo, the Kozakurans speak Kozakuran, and in Wa, they speak Wa-an. There's also a common Trade Tongue in Kara-Tur.

    NaNoWriMo is Upon Us

Yeah, I'm doing it, yet again. Currently standing at 4,001 words, with something resembling a plot slowly beginning to emerge from the sludge of filler words I've been typing up. I was supposed to create an outline last month, but other writing projects got in the way.

Desert of Desolation Gallery is up!!

Meh. Worst set in a while. Possibly ever. No strong theme, bad sculpts (why does the sphinx have the head of a lion?), and there seem to be balance issues. The prerelease tournament didn't feel like DDM usually feels. Everything died too easily. I will not be buying any more boosters.

What other games do you play?

I like WFRP, and have run it in the past. I am now trying to schedule a one-shot session to play the Shattered Hope demo adventure for Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. I've also run Godlike in the past. It is my favourite superhero game, alternate history game and WW2 game, all rolled in one...

Has the "Delve" format worked for you?

It's harder to read - having the encounter data split between two places, with its relevance to the plot and place in the adventure being outlined in one place and the actual content of the encounter in a different part of the book makes it a bit cumbersome to work with when trying to get a good...

So what the heck IS a Shadowfell, anyway?

It's not Hell, it's "the Shadowfell", whatever that is. Maybe he's doing it so he can bargain an inhabitant of Shadowfell for something, or to destroy only the local barony, or to establish himself as a local warlord who can then expand his power by other means. Maybe he's doing it to remove his...

So what the heck IS a Shadowfell, anyway?

I think you're reading a lot more into that blurb than it's actually saying.

    Find that Drow!

Uthegental Armgo was the weaponmaster of House Barrison Del'Armgo, actually. The Baenre weaponmasters we've met were Dantrag and Berg'inyon, both now deceased.
