    Death Dealer Adventure?

I thought this was odd: Really? You've snagged one of the greatest pieces of fantasy art ever for your cover, and you need an alternate cover as well? Why?

    Mixing Coffee Flavors

What? No! Chunky peanut butter brings the peanut butter as close as possible to its noble progenitor, the peanut. Similarly, regular coffee unsullied with froufrou crap is closest to the coffee bean in its purest form. Thus, obviously the perfect meal is a peanut butter sandwich with plain black...

Light Sources - how do you track

I'm running a 1e game, and light source is definitely something I take into consideration. If they're in a large darkened area, they just don't know what's there until they move so it's within the light - I keep in mind the radius of light put out by their various sources, and describe the...

Oct RPG Book Club: Thieves World Box Set

Oh, they're on his list! He's been tweaked a good bit for my campaign - he's kinda villainous and working to secretly destabilize the city so he can save the day and be seen as a hero, and thus gain more political power. The party has a particular magic item he wants (they retrieved it when...

Oct RPG Book Club: Thieves World Box Set

I'm using that boxed set in my current 1e campaign, in fact. Seriously, it really IS the best rpg supplement I've ever seen in 25+ years of gaming. The players spent a few sessions poking around in Sanctuary before they even left town in search of their first adventure when the campaign started...

    Mixing Coffee Flavors

Know what my favorite coffee flavor is? COFFEE FLAVORED! Sheesh, you kids and your crazy-ass flavored coffees! (Not to be confused with a "crazy ass-flavored coffee." That's even nastier!)

4E with 1E Feel: Does that appeal to you?

Hm - I wouldn't call 1e "rules light" at all. I would, however, say that a lot of people handwaved or used simpler systems for some of the messier rules. I suggest you ask Sarge about 1e psionics, unarmed combat, or by the book initiative sometime!

4E with 1E Feel: Does that appeal to you?

Oh, dear god - I would freakin' love to see that happen! I ain't holding my breath, though. :.-(

4E with 1E Feel: Does that appeal to you?

Man, my 1e players are going to think I'm a total hardass! They're 3rd level, and they just got their asses handed to them last session by 10 skeletons wearing a little bit of armor.

Forked Thread: Name exactly what 4E is "missing"

A bit OT, but have you ever checked out meetup.com, IR? You might want to check and see if there's a D&D/gaming group organized through them in your area. The one here in Portland is pretty big, and they work with the awesome FLGS to host game days that are pretty well attended. That's how I was...

Forked Thread: Name exactly what 4E is "missing"

It's not "so-called" D&D. It really is D&D. You can tell because it says "Dungeons & Dragons" on the cover, see. No, they're pretty great. My regular gaming group made up of both veteran gamers and rank newbies is having plenty of fun with 1e, and every time I run a 1e one-shot at the FLGS I...

Anyone else been wanting a Rules Cyclopedia HB?

The one that always makes me wince at the sheer awfulness of it is the picture of a fighter swinging his sword and sort of...prancing toward a yawning, unimpressed ogre. Do not like! That, and the cyclops dressed as a wizard.

    Ugh, My Car

Hm, my dad was a used car salesman - I don't think he was into ripping people off. When you buy a 14-year-old car, you're often going to have stuff go bad on you.

    Mundane vs. Fantastical

Wait - removing lightning from a giant poisonous scorpion makes it more fantastic?

Anyone else been wanting a Rules Cyclopedia HB?

I can attest from personal experience that torn and yellow copies of the RC play just as well as one in prisitne condition. ;)

1E Legends & Lore: I have it and I'm very happy!

1E vs Forked Thread: Is 4E doing it for you?

It did, as did the Wilderness Survival Guide. Sadly, they didn't see fit to reprint the Origami and Tea Ceremony NWP's, though. :)

1E vs Forked Thread: Is 4E doing it for you?

There was a kinda half-assed skill table in the 1e DMG, actually. It wasn't until Oriental Adventures that proper nonweapon proficiencies came about, though.
