TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

Mr. LaNasa's lawyer filed a motion requesting to amend the complaint removing Tenkar's mom from the suit, and stating that he acknowledges that he was convicted of a misdemeanor 20 years ago. This is in response to a suggestion from the judge to come to some "agreement of terms" with Tenkar else...

D&D 5E (2014) Can you cast flame blade and then make an improvised weapon attack with the flame blade?

So, according to the wording of the spell you can't use flame blade as an extra attack weapon. But, you can use shadow blade thusly? How much damage or other effects does shadow blade do? Are they equivalent? If they are, and one is explicitly permissive in this tactic and the other is...

D&D General Tell Us About Your Gnolls! [+]

For me, the gnolls were the first creation of Orlanda the Sorceress. Dissatisfied with the result, she discarded them and worked on uplifting other races. Shocked and disoriented in being raised to sentience and then thrown away, the gnolls reacted violently. This drew the attention of Yeenoghu...

Titan Boardgame - David Trampier Artwork T-Shirts

Truth! I think I came to love the idea of the game more than the game itself. I enjoyed playing it in my youth, but not sure I would have the patience for it now. I still have my copy...

D&D General Bringing out the big guns - Low Level PCs with High Level antagonist NPCs? (And/Or high power items)

With grossly powered opponents, they aren't meant to fight them at that point. Any conflict would be indirect, such as court maneuvering or seeing them from afar. Sometimes when the PCs decide they want to FAFO then they will need teamwork. For grossly powered magic items, that can be fun if...

D&D General Why I love Point Buy or Array when creating a PC

If I'm playing B/X or AD&D, I'll roll because stat bonuses aren't going to be too important beyond fifth level or so. If I'm playing 5e, I'll pick because stat bonuses are going to equal or exceed level bonuses most of the character's life. If I don't know what I'm going to play, I prefer...

Planescape Manual of the Planes for 5e on DMSGuild

I'll see what I can dig up. Interesting about licensing, all the adventures were work for hire so I wouldn't think that would be complicated. But, I am not wise nor learned enough to understand such arcane mysteries.

Planescape Manual of the Planes for 5e on DMSGuild

😁 Sort of- It was in the High Level Extraplanar Campaign for the Living City Campaign. It's in the "canon", but the exposure is pretty low and I don't know how much of the lore was incorporated. I wrote the story bible, 12 chapter synopsis, and the first three adventures. The main lore I think...

How do I know if I'm reading a good/up to date history book?

Way back in the day, I had a professor explain to be how, through the analysis of the glue in a bookbinding and the pollen in the glue, he could tell me that a book was made somewhere between 1530 - 1550, and it was definitely August of that year. All because of when the pollen of that plant...

you have 60 seconds to grab whatever you can around you before you are instantly teleported back in time 1,000 years, what would you grab?

Backpack, artist's pad, journal, pencils, pharmacognosy handbook, an honest-to-G-d Copper Age hand axe I made, run past the fridge to grab some meat, the sack of potatoes in the pantry, and hope I make it to the front door for hat and coat. Hopefully I can make myself useful to the locals in the...

D&D General What does the mundane high level fighter look like? [+]

I guess you don't hear "you might be right" that often?

D&D General What does the mundane high level fighter look like? [+]

Well, I disagree with the former. However, I will bow to your superior knowledge of 5e for the latter. I find it bizarre that the fighter is the worst at fighting, but you've played more of 5e than I have.

D&D General What does the mundane high level fighter look like? [+]

I mean that monster hit points are elevated to the point where that effect happens rarely. Someone mentioned before that ogres have 50 some odd hit points. I would expect that a 12th level fighter would make short work of a squad of 6. Apparently, this is not the case.

D&D General What does the mundane high level fighter look like? [+]

Oh, well, I weep for those whom wizardry is beyond their reach. But I think that each class has their own fun thing, and fighters are predominately about combat.

D&D General What does the mundane high level fighter look like? [+]

I talked about the rules I used in one of these interminable threads stating that at in my game 4th level the fighter's minimum damage was 6 pts. The usual hp of a 1HD monster was 6. This allowed a fourth level fighter to routinely take out 2-5 targets a round depending on how hot their dice...

D&D General What does the mundane high level fighter look like? [+]

And? What fighter abilities are save for half? I hope you don't mean fireball or something similar. If the fighter can handle the situation, the fighter handles the situation. The wizard is there for when they can't.

D&D General What does the mundane high level fighter look like? [+]

Well, they're not fighters, are they? Combat prowess isn't their schtick. Rangers, paladins, clavigers, they're all martial types so they have access to that level of combat capability but it takes a feat or two. Fighters start with it, the others start with those things implied by their class...

I am certain they have more than 1 hp.
