S&S is definitely the style I prefer, but honestly I the Conan RPG (and, very shortly, the second edition) for that and it works magnificently. but yeah, if Scott rouse came in and said "The Game is going to go in one of these directions, and you get to choose Billy"...I'd probably go with S&S.

I ran a game like that once...there had been a war amongst the Gods, and a lot of concepts just literally had no deific backing any longer...Good, Evil, War, Peace, Magic etc. So the Gods that were left were a pretty disparate pantheon of second-stringers...Law vs. Chaos was the new big fight...

I was already stoked for this...it just went up a notch or two.

Those are both outstanding. But I love the first example from the OP, and dislike the picture/style of the Hennet picture. There's no pleasing me:)

WotC has returned to relevance for me. We've been playing D&D a lot lately. I'm sure their "relevance" will wax and wane for me the way all publishers have over the years. The quality is largely there, and that's always a big part of it.
