Monte Cook pens Dungeon Crawl Classics #50: Vault of the Iron Overlord

John, if we other members of the reviewing staff could do what you do...we'd do it. "Cooper-esque" in this instance doesn't mean "thorough and exacting", it means "beyond the ken of mortal men"

Yup...we might be seeing the Adventure Module of the ages here.

    I will be there! :)

Wizards of the Coast/Kenzer & Company License Agreements Expiring

Man...I really quite liked (and like) the Kingdoms of Kalamar setting. Not a lot of Fantasy Superheroics going on, but it held together really well as a consistent setting (which mightn't be important to everyone, but lack of such verisimilitude in a setting eventually drives me crazy). That...

    2007 ENnies Nominees - announced!

I've always thought you guys should be in the fight.

    Your thoughts on 'Xcrawl"?

Hey Brendan, is Xcrawl full at Gen Con yet? As an ENnies judge I don;t get my badge until I am onsite, so pre-reg is pretty much out. Any way I could sign up theough you?

DMs are too easy on their players

I think it's a bit odd Edena that you are chalking all of the success of your players up to their ingenuity when it was pretty much you deciding they would win based on their descriptions of actions rather than rules-adjudication. I mean, it's one way to do things, but it comes across a bit...

    Experimental societies

[Something like B]Hollowfaust [/B]from Scarred Lands. A bunch of LE Necromancers set up a city and use their lowbie undead to do the drudge work of running a city...Farming, Sewer Cleaning, Policing etc (rather than, I guess, sending the to cave complexes and telling them to collect copper and...

    Now that was well-put :)

DMs are too easy on their players

That's my feeling as well. When I heard that 3.0 was going to be striving for "Balance", my I was overjoyed, but really all I was wanting (and expecting) was a basically equal power level amongst the PC classes. I don;t really need (or want) the EL system, I'm not certain what was so idealized...

    Gamemastery Item Cards

I got a deck and was actually at a loss as to what I was expected to do with them. I mean it's not like I've ever said "Man, if only there was some other way to keep track of whether or not my character has a backpack than just writing it down on the character sheet" Nicely illustrated though.

    Oots #472

We've used that as a tactic in Feng Shui (sparingly:)) I recall that our characters were in fictional Kowloon, and needed to get from point A to Point B fast We flagged a Rickshaw driver, and promptly asked him his name. So in the blink of an eye he went from "Generic Rickshaw Puller" to...

Would You Give Wizards Unlimited Lower Level Spells?

I think wizards are plenty powerful and flexible at high levels with endeavoring to increase both their power and flexibility.

Any point in signing up for Gen Con now?

I disagree that you "can't just show up and start gaming". Honestly, I don;t sign up for much of anything official at Gen Con, just because the overall quality has been so low in the past. Sign up for a M&M Demo at the Green Ronin booth, Steve Kenson will probably be your GM (and he is a...

Homebrewers: How Publishable is Your Brew?

I went with "Another GM could use my stuff if I worked on it...much of it's in my head, right where it's needed"... But publishable? No. I mean so much of it is blatantly stolen from literary sources that think I'd be in debt/legal trouble forever.

    Your thoughts on 'Xcrawl"?

I've loved XCrawl pretty much since it came out. People seem to either really like the fluff, or hate it; I am in the former camp. The Fluff is written so well that virtually any "tone" you want to impart to your game is supported... D&D as Pro Wrestling? Check. Religious/Political Intrigue...
