    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

I wonder if maybe Summoned creatures might use some derivation of the summoner's stats for attacks. Perhaps use the summoner's defenses and work similar to minions? Have a feat (or more) that let you up those defenses (say +2 to AC for summoned creatures) or maybe certain higher level summons...

    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

I didn't even catch that! A bummer, really... other than flavor of saying there's a giant fire angel fighting on your behalf, how is summoning any different than what could be done with a sustained zone or something of that effect? So far, the invoker doesn't seem nearly as cool as the Wizard...

    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

Prayers ;) Divine Controller As far as level 1 encounters, one pushes targets, one helps allies AC, one ranged immobilizes, one targets up to 3 and dazes them. The most exciting/new part of the whole thing I think has to be with the different fluff (Invokers are more friendly to gods that...

    Dragon 370 - Invoker Preview

Not much summoning before level 3... and would be VERY easy to build one that ignored summoning. Wasn't expecting that, but it seems on par with Fighter stances. I wonder if there will be a single summon maximum and how other things might work - do they count as allies in every sense of the...

P3 Assault on Nightwyrm Fortress not till March?

Good call! I had forgotten about this one. Makes the P3 gap more visible then. I think the overall pace was good, I was looking to see if anybody had heard of any particular reasons for a gap or just happened to go that way. With PHB2 in March, maybe they're anticipating combined sales or...

P3 Assault on Nightwyrm Fortress not till March?

I didn't realize there would be such a big gap, has anybody seen any comments on why that might be? I figured if there was a gap it'd be between Paragon and Epic... this puts 2008 H1: May H2: July H3: August FR1: September P1: October P2: December 2009 P3: March E1: May E2: June Seekers of the...

Skill challenge design -- still wonky

I know stealth rules were errata'd into the latest pdfs... were there any official skill challenge updates? I feel it is in need of a similar rework. I'd also like to see a "skill challenge tool" that was similar to the encounter builder. Scale things, give you some DCs and some suggestions on...

What is meant by saying that in 4e "Everything is core"?

I figured the design philosophy was that everything would be designed with the universal in mind. Swordmages will be designed as to exist in any world, same with Psionics, wardens, etc. They certainly aren't taking away the DM's ability to shape their world the way they see fit, nor are they...

Running a business in the game

My current campaign had the players given an option to have a "rum running" business. What sounded cool initially was quickly overtaken by a much better macro plot that left the rum runners to the background NPCs and the adventurers doing much greater and grander deeds. All for the better, of...

Manual of the Planes Excerpt: Feywild

Archfey epic destiny anyone? Pretty interesting... I'm curious where else it goes. Flufftastic!

    Playtest: The Druid (merged)

So I think I'm going to add a druid to an encounter tomorrow night. The players are in a large forest in search (skill challenge) of a green dragon - at some point they run into a heavily themed dragonkin kobold that are associated with the dragon. I think I'll have the human druid start out...

    Excerpt: City of Brass

I was not interested in this book a lick. These last excerpts though have made me very interested! The art and flavor seems pretty cool... maybe not a book I'll be interested in owning for reference but perhaps something I'll pick up as a gift for another DM more likely to use it as a setting...

    Playtest: The Druid (merged)

I wonder how easily it would be to completely ignore either the more distance-controller side or the beast form side. Hard to tell from the first, uh 2, levels. But as an example you could create a Shapeshifter/Werewolf At-Will (Call of the Wild, Grasping Claws, Savage Rend) Encounter...

    Playtest: The Druid (merged)

Kind of interestingly congruent to wizards two daily spells. Seems to make some sense... Druids have some more options with lower-level controllery stuff (aside from wizard cantrips) while Wizards have more options when it comes to big-bad-powerful spells.

[4E] Dark Heart of Mithrendain tips?

I have not, but I'm eager to hear some feedback. As I plan on running something similar once my players make it to the feywild, I'd like to know what I can pull and what should be reworked.

Forked Thread: What makes a good Setting?

How do characters feel in your world, just by living in it? The Eladrin empire has taken over the PC's kingdom in the mortal world and have since shifted the economy and all control over. They feel oppressed, with ever more encroachments on their freedoms and without a say in their government...
