    GMs: Guiding Morals in GMing

The connotations are purposeful. It is part of my contention that people viewing these as morals rather than preferences is part of what blinds some GMs to other perspectives.

    GMs: Guiding Morals in GMing

So something in another threat got me thinking. So many GM style arguments come down to clashes of what can be called "Guiding Morals." What I mean is, having a few key principles of how a game should be run, priorities of play, that you are willing to bend other considerations to serve. So...

D&D 5E (2014) Martials should just get free feats

To elaborate: The issue for me is that Fighter and Barbarians, and to a lesser extend Paladins, can often feel like they don't contribute as much out of combat. Rogues and Bards get skills (and spells for Bards) which allow them to help in the other pillars of play outside of combat.

D&D 5E (2014) Martials should just get free feats

My counter: Give Fighters more skills, both in terms of number and choices.

RPG Evolution - The AI GM: Your Somewhat Unreliable Familiar

I also find it fascinating, and it's really not new, but its on the cusp of being good enough to be commercially viable.

RPG Evolution - The AI GM: Your Somewhat Unreliable Familiar

Yielding creative expression out of human hands is the end of human culture. That is the terminal point of this technology. When we no longer write our own stories or compose our own songs or paint our own pictures, we won't have a culture any longer. Quite simply, I won't support or purchase...

RPG Evolution - The AI GM: Your Somewhat Unreliable Familiar

This is a very dangerous road and some folks are just skipping along, throwing posies.

    Definitive Game Theory

So I curious to see if anyone also does this. I own a decent selection of TTRPGs, in terms of physical media. By my shelf space has an upper limit, as does my time, so on occasion, I have to weed things out. I 'generally" don't have a need for a game if I feel I already have the concept...

What's the WORST Star Wars movie?

So for years, Attack of the Clones. Since then I have mellowed. Watching people get super upset about the Disney helmed sequel films made me look back at the visceral anger I had about the prequels overall in my 20s and see how pointless such a reaction is. However, If Im being objective, Rise...

D&D General What D&D Religion Is Your Favorite, And Why?

St Cuthbert, in that the name is lifted from an actual saint associated with the place I went to Uni.

What Licensed RPG Do You Wish Existed But Doesn't?

When this song came out and was big on MTV for a bit, I thought it was the stupidest thing ever. Now it feels so achingly prescient.

What Licensed RPG Do You Wish Existed But Doesn't?

I'm a sucker for a sci-fi story that has an actual reason for why aliens would visit earth.

D&D 5E (2014) Which D&D books currently scheduled for 2023 are you interested in?

Maybe Phandelver and Planescape, dependent on content. I really feel let down by Spelljammer. If we get a Planescape release as bereft of real content as Spelljammer was, I honestly will just give up on WotC setting releases for the foreseeable future. I would love to get "Book of Many Things"...

What Licensed RPG Do You Wish Existed But Doesn't?

I'm watching Lockwood and Co on Netflix now and it would be a solid setting. I also really liked the worldbuilding in Jupiter Ascending, even if the film itself is mediocre. Great visuals.

News Digest for the Week of November 11

Legit. I find that DnDBeyond has a massive glut of named NPCs that can be reskinned as needed. Honestly, I wish they were better organized.

Nice spread. And you don't feel the stats could be of use with a reskinning for another setting?
