Project Sigil All the Deets on Project Sigil the D&D 3D Virtual Tabletop

From the perspective of a gamer, that's cool. Depending on the price for the service and how difficult it is to import/create non-D&D assets, I might consider that. (I've never had a DDB account). From a business perspective that's also potentially smart. WoTC could take the role of platform...

Project Sigil All the Deets on Project Sigil the D&D 3D Virtual Tabletop

The video mentions being able to bring things in from other games/properties (i.e. Optimus Prime). Any word on if there would be an option to use Sigil to play a game that doesn't use 5e (or D&D) rules? I'm also curious about what the options are for modifying the grid. Could I choose to use...

    Spoilers Alien: Romulus (Spoilers)

I'm still not sure how I feel about it. It's an okay film, but (as Morris already said) a few things feel forced and out of place. Also, there are times when people being too stupid took me out of it. There are a lot of cool ideas and scenes in the movie. Overall, it's enjoyable. But the...

    General DCC RPG thread

That makes sense. For me, I'm less concerned about "balance" and more trying to figure out how challenges and creatures that I had been working on for other games translate into DCC. I don't yet have much experience knowing where the line between "this might be difficult" and "rocks fall...

    General DCC RPG thread

What are some general guidelines some of you have used to know how difficult a challenge may be? I'm not looking for a CR system like what D&D has; I prefer things being a little looser. However, I am still new to DCC and don't yet have much experience knowing how to judge difficulty. When I...

D&D 5E (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

To me, Common Sense also would say that I wouldn't create a technical term for a rules manual and then also use the term in a potentially ambiguous way rather than just writing "natural language" (i.e. hidden, camouflage, etc) if I wanted my audience to use natural language interpretations of...

    General DCC RPG thread

Thank you for the response. I asked about Kingmaker because of that particular adventure path's theme of carving something out of a rugged patch of land. The group for whom I DMed (Judged?) the DCC Rulebook Funnel approached things a lot differently than I expected. They wanted to save Old...

    General DCC RPG thread

I only recently joined the band, but I am highly enjoying the experience. My usual home setting has different races than the typical Dwarf, Elf, and Halfling breakdown, so I'm still figuring out how to create some of my own stuff. A Few Questions: •Do any of you have expanded equipment...

Olympics Talk: A brief discussion before it goes away

    1) That's tough to say. I haven't regularly watched the past few, so I'm not even really sure what is currently considered an Olympic Sport. That being said, the few clips I've seen of Breaking have negatively skewed how I would perceive that. 2) Biathalon 3) Why isn't pole dancing an Olympic...

D&D General Huge Equipment Lists: Good, Bad, or Ugly?

For me, it depends upon how the game handles equipment, using equipment, and whether or not choices of equipment matter. A big equipment list that does nothing for my character. For example, if a game lists 20 weapons but either a) there is no tangible difference to any of them OR b) 1 or 2...

WotC How new Wizards of the Coast head John Hight turned around World of Warcraft

Back during the 5th Edition playtest, I had thought that was the idea behind a modular ruleset. There would be a basic "core," and then different settings and modules could alter that to introduce other concepts. So, something like Birthright might introduce mass combat; Ravenloft would...

D&D 5E (2024) Current Stealth Rule Actually Works As Is. If Moving Out of Cover After Hiding Makes Enemies Immediately "Finds You", Hide Would Be Totally UNUSABLE.

Leaving cover isn't currently listed as a way to lose it. That's one of the issues discussed in the other thread. So, if my character is a pacifist mime, he hides once and stays invisible effectively forever.

D&D 5E (2024) Current Stealth Rule Actually Works As Is. If Moving Out of Cover After Hiding Makes Enemies Immediately "Finds You", Hide Would Be Totally UNUSABLE.

As was asked in the other threads, can a character take the Hide action while nobody is around and gain the Invisible condition? If so, even a level 1 character has roughly a 50/50 shot at free invisibility. (D20 + Dex mod + Proficiency bonus)

    D&D 5E (2024) New stealth rules.

That's tough to say without the game including facing rules. I can think of a lot of scenarios in which it depends upon what the pieces involved are doing, but most of those scenarios involve things that typically aren't part of the D&D rules. However, I think that could be a reasonable...

    D&D 5E (2024) New stealth rules.

Multiple people (including myself) have given ideas for how it might be fixed with as little as 2 or 3 sentences or by simply having a "hidden" condition as part of the game.

    D&D 5E (2024) New stealth rules.

I think that's easy to say for someone experienced with the game. It also assumes that D&D often follows what would be intuitive. Questions I've had from new players have ranged from "why can't I target the giant eye of the [Beholder]" to "there aren't any rules that my deity can take away...
