    Just watched Narnia (Possible spoilers)

I do not question the entire literary establishment's right to apply allegory to literature. I question the idea that author's intent is irrelevant (or less-relevant than a reader's) and that a critic or any other reader knows more about said intent than the author. I question the idea that the...

    Energy Weapons VS Ballistic Weapons

Yeah, when I was looking through the weapon gadgets in future I was thinking that some of 'em were there specifically so you could make the Lawgivers

I didn't consider it necessary to say that :)

Your reasons are convincing, Kahuna Burger. Allow me to change my opinion to one more moderate: I'll trust the auther's view over that of someone else, especially a pompous chap who disregards the author's statements (not referring to anyone in particular here). I still feel that if the author...

    (December) What are you reading?

Oooh, I think I've read that. I'm reading Stanislaw Lem's The Cyberiad and some more Richard Sharpe books. I also recently read Amusing Ourselves to Death, Sir Gawaine and the Green Knight (again), and a really cool poem called The Wanderer.

    Good Fantasy anime

Outlaw Star is great, and it's fantasy. Sci-fantasy, yes, but fantasy nonetheless. I know you want swords, but OS is just too good to go unrecommended :)

Regarding the whole allegory thing... If an author is trying to get a message through in his book, he's trying to communicate with you. If you get something out of the book other than what he wanted you too, you misinterpreted it. If the message the author was trying to get to you is, "hey...

Just DMed my first Eberron game!

That's pretty cool :) I used Dark and Stormy Knight for Eberron, too. It's kind of a weird one, though...to use a descriptor I dislike, "videogamey." The separate rooms, the traps, the one-magic-item-for-everybody...Oh well. My PCs fortified the door and stayed there a while, keeping their heads...

Pie does, indeed, whoop cake all up one side and down the other. My dad makes the best pie ever. If you disagree you will be fed to the sacred apes.

Cake the band is good. Cake-cake-wise I like German chocolate, chocolate cake with chocolate or whipped-cream frosting, carrot cake, and SPICE CAKE!

    Your favorite westerns.

Most of my Western tastes have been sated by Louis L'amour's books, but there have been quite a few movies I liked, too. The Kirk Douglas/Burt Lancaster Gunfight at O.K. Corral is one of my favorites, and I've got to get around to seeing Tombstone one of these days so I can compare Douglas' and...
