Random ideas you never saw through

A Star Wars world with the force and all, but before space travel. Either pseudo-medieval, with Jedi as wizards and swordsmen, or Wild West. Pokemon, except people use Pokemon the way real people would-as the weapons of mass destruction they are! Post-apocalyptic madness; the heroes are some of...

    D&D 4E The 4e PHB : Cheesecake Y/N?

I think it's more exposed + ugly => not designed to titillate, but exposed + pretty => designed to titillate. It's whether or not your game books should be designed to get your baby-making motors running, not whether beauty is offensive.

    Ancient/Roman Britain

Not a campaign setting, but check out Bernard Cornwell's Warlord Trilogy. Powerful sauce.

    d6: pips or numbers?

I like pips. Currently, though, I'm in love with the Pirateology game dice, which have slashes for 1 through 5 and a skull face for 6.

What setting to use as a base when players have creative powers?

The Diamond Throne, AU/E's setting, is very much a framework rather than a fully fleshed-out setting like FR or the Iron Kingdoms. There's some that's more fleshed out, especially around the giant kingdom of the Diamond Throne, a lot that's sketched, and a LOT that's very open for creation. The...

    [Trailer] Hellboy 2

This looks AWESOME! Fairies and trolls and goblins, yes! And the trailer has Rammstein, which makes me happy inside. Mein Herz Brennt is the perfect song for this kinda thing!

Great Fantasy Cities (and what makes them so awesome)

Five Fingers is awesome, but I gotta say I LOVE both of the cities from the Gentlemen Bastards book, Camorr from The Lies of Locke Lamora and Tal Varrar from Red Seas under Red Skies. Camorr might as well be Five Fingers, feel-wise, for me.

    D&D Modules on Wikipedia

That's the thing about ridiculously inconsistent standards.

    Are demons/devils/dragons too complex?

I think that they're too complicated, although 3.5 toned that down for demons and devils. I know that I never used them because of all the fiddly special abilities and spell-likes.

    I've just seen a fantastic D&D movie...

Is that out yet? I heard it was tied up or something.

    Tieflings of Melnibone

That is evil. Pure self-interest with no regard for right or wrong is about as evil as you can get outside of supernatural creatures of pure evil.

    "Science" as a power source?

The Unknown Armies/d20 adventure The Ascension of the Magdalene is a really cool example of how D&D can work with SCIENCE! Also, it has a conversion guide between D&D and Unknown Armies, which is absolutely mind-boggling.

Notes from a Savage Worlds fantasy campaign (updated with 05/28/08 session notes!)...

To be fair, the SW stat block crops a lot of information, like how it's set off/reset, how hard it is to find and disable (whether you take a penalty on your roll in SW), and how much it costs to build or buy one. Not that I'd ever use any of that info except for the difficulty, but still.

Woot -- quality new race flavor!

Put me down as happy with the new core fluff. By the by, why're people talking about it changing Eberron (or whatever) fluff? It's not like 3.5 Eberron uses the 3.5 core fluff.

    D&D 4E 4e and anime

Moorcock has been specific that Elric was intended to be the polar opposite of Conan. Physically weak, magic-user, the ruler of a decadent and evil civilization who gave up his power. It's kinda interesting.

    Tinman (First thoughts -Many Spoilers)

Azkadelia has tattoos on her cleavage that turn into flying monkeys. There's a great little scene where she busts out with the cleavage and sends the monkeys out. It's pretty hot, in a tremendously geeky way

    Average of exploding dice?

    Thanks, y'all! I appreciate it.

    Average of exploding dice?

How do you work out the average roll on an exploding die? I'd really appreciate it if someone better with probability could give me a hand here :heh: For those who don't know, with exploding dice if you roll the maximum, you roll again and add it until you stop rolling the max.
