Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

EDIT: No, you know what, that treads too close to a political joke. You're supposed to be smarter than this, @RealAlHazred -- win their hearts and minds, and THEN feed those to Great Cthulhu! Baby steps!

... that's a red flag! One of the biggest!

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I ran a single Mage: the Ascension campaign and ended up with all of that game line, plus the core books for the others and a bunch of additional supplements for Wraith, Werewolf and Changeling, because people wanted to play weird things.

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

Part of the reason I'm mentioning this, is one of the alternate magic items for one of the Lost Things is a bag of holding, and I'm considering putting in the Bagman. I really like the Bagman concept, and if it's an urban legend that got told around a lot of Primes, then it will exist somewhere...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

I should mention my conception of the Feywild and the Shadowfell. The way it gets put on there, the Feywild is just the reason of Faerie and the Shadowfell the realm of Shadows. Much like the Elemental planes are the real of Element(al)s. I liked 2E's Planescape. I see it like this: when...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

That would probably be more appropriate with Isolde's Carnival. Check out the 2E Ravenloft supplement Carnival for more of those sorts of ideas.

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

Witchlight Carnival Expanded Okay, this one is really good. It also provides an addition 12 Lost Things, so that you can roll a d20 and have more options. Several of the associated items are Uncommon, which is more appropriate and useful at the tier characters are likely to start finding them...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

Fair. I was specifically thinking of the "Outstare the Cyclops" attraction. I'm thinking of replacing the illusion of the cyclops with a real young fomorian, and then also having the "cyclops" have, like, hayfever or something, and the PCs can find out about it. If someone wants to outstare the...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

In general, I agree with this. However, I don't want to rule out a player coming up with some method of cheating one of the attractions in a way that's entertaining to the other attendees. In that case, it should improve the mood. I mean, people are there to be entertained and let go of stress.

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

I love this. And, unbeknownst to the players, it shouldn't matter at all. However, many players will be suspicious of the DM, and expect an ambush at every turn. So, when I implement this, I'll make sure to have "jump scares" of prankish carnival-goers running into the PCs, or otherwise seeming...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

I've got a few more expansions and supplements that I need to look at, which I picked up when I bought the Complete DM's Bundle a few years ago, including the Witchlight Carnival Expanded (22 pages of content), Witchlight Carnival: Erdan's Homebrew (6 pages of content) and the Witchlight Beer...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

So, a fast review, but it's a really short supplement. The Witchlight Carnival DM Supplement I picked this one up because the author did a post on Reddit where he made many criticisms I agreed with, and I wanted to see his further thoughts on the adventure. He's got a number of sections in...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

I definitely want the fortunes to have extremely minor consequences. For instance, I'm wondering if I can come up with a list of "fortunes/benefits" for this. Like so: 01.“The breath of the forest whispers your name, leading you to a path unseen.” The next time the character is trying to find...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

That's a great question. In general, I think each attraction will have a Witchlight Hand who tells the markscustomers, "Don't cheat," gives an example or two, and then leaves it at that. Some of the attractions have ordinary (chaotic neutral) goblins as attendants/referees, and those have a...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

A quick scan gave me: "A boggle is born out of feelings of loneliness, materializing in a place where the Feywild touches the world in proximity to an intelligent being that feels isolated or abandoned. For example, a forsaken child might unintentionally conjure a boggle and see it as a sort of...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

Last year, I picked up the DM's Bundle for WBW on DTRPG. It's got a few things to expand the Carnival, and I'm checking through them now. I should probably leave a review of the products here and on the product page as I do. Also, it's worth noting that, per the various monster books, strong...

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

So, I've been prepping the last few days, putting things into a Tiddlywiki to organize my thoughts and modifications. Looking pretty good so far. In inputting the elements of the different parts of the carnival, I realized there is an eating contest in the Feasting Orchard. I missed it because...
