    Giantkin (Half-Giant Tweak)

I've never been happy with the Half-Giant as presented. It only has a +2 Strength and that just doesn't feel like a Half-GIANT to me. Here is a tweak I'm thinking of using. Do you think it is balanced as a +1 LA race? I thought of adding in a +1 attack and damage bonus for spears as a cultural...

    Escape from New York remake?

American film makers aren't allowed to produce original movies. There is too much implied risk with that idea. Much safer to just remake older movies. Until we need to start remaking the remakes... I wonder why no Americans won Oscars this year?

    Escape from New York remake?

After having watched the trailer, I was stunned by the incredibly high level of Stupid. Wall in a virus? Wall in Scotland? Send in ground troops? What have the airplanes, helicopters, unmanned drones, satellites, telephone lines and radio waves all stopped working? Now the trailer does LOOK...

    Building #19 and D&D Books

I woke up early today for no apparent reason. Just prior to my early rising I had a dream that the Manchester NH branch of Building #19 [http://www.building19.com/] was stocking D&D books. Since I was up I went out to run a few errands. One of which was to stop by Building #19... and loh, verily...

    Apocalypic Questions

But that food in NYC is 3 days supply for 10 million people. Divide that up between a 100,000 and it goes a lot further. Far enough that you might get a crop going in the green spaces within the city. And you have the entire city to loot for trade goods for those that live outside the city and...

    Why is it "Chain, spiked?"

The editor tried changing it to Chain, Cheese but the munchkin writer got annoyed. Simple solution that I use and advocate: Drop the Spiked Chain (or Chain, Spiked) from your campaign. It's the dumbest weapon idea ever conceived of for D&D. Shortly followed by the Dire Flail and Mercurial...

    Apocalypic Questions

This is one of the reasons I don't think I would ever run a PA campaign that takes place during the Event. At least not a long term campaign. Just too darn depressing. Set it a few years or generations later and all of the really horrible survivor stories are just "history". Though I always...

    Beautiful Knives...and more?

The best annual on knives that I know of is Knives 2008 (Knives) by Joe Kertzman. Older issues can often be found in the discount section of B&N or off price sellers. Simply the best source of knife images and info available. I own ever copy from 1981 to the present. I am only missing the first...

    Sticking w/ 3.5: Any Publishers?

My only problem with this is that I don't like PDFs. I prefer dead tree versions of gaming books. I have had too many problems with trying to get a PDF printed and bound to want to do that on my own. When I want a gaming book, I want to hold it in my hands.

    Sticking w/ 3.5: Any Publishers?

I'm sure that anyone selling 3.5 material will put that right in the product announcement. It wold be the main selling point of the product after all. Very shortly (much to my regret) the term D&D is going to mean 4E. To borrow a naming style from White Wolf, 4E: The Unwanted.

There is the Quick Trait that grants a +10 movement bonus. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/buildingCharacters/characterTraits.htm

Games you thought you'd like and hated and games you thought you'd hate and liked

My issue with Werewolf is that I couldn't find the rules. I read the book, saw all this fluff but found no crunch... A defender of WW told me, "But Werewolf is the crunchiest game in the series!" I sold the book.

I own both of these. MP has a special place in my heart. As a long time Gamma World fan MP is just cool. It's like someone took out the goofy aspects of GW and published a RPG. It is rather "realistic" in many ways. I consider it a proud part of my collection.

The Post-Apocalyptic supplement was sort of interesting though.

    Bad RPG Collecting

I read one of the novels but I've never looked at the Wraeththu RPG. What makes it bad?

Games you thought you'd like and hated and games you thought you'd hate and liked

I am lukewarm on GURPS as a rules system. But some of the supplements are the best I've ever read.

    Bad RPG Collecting

Thank you for that review. I like big pages counts as well, so long as they are full of actual content. It doesn't have to be a hard cover but I do prefer dead tree versions of games. I simply don't buy PDFs. And I like good B&W art. So long as it is *good* B&W art.

    Bad RPG Collecting

I love Living Steel! Not to *actually* play mind you. But the side bar comments and quotes are great. I own the other games that company made as well. The curse of being a collector.
