    GTS 2009 D&D Seminar - the Rouse discusses D&D

    I fully approve of this!

Fool's Grove: The Gnome's Back (With Friends)

I'm especially fond of Francis the Badger Minion's abilities, especially "Badger Badger Badger"

    Avenger Impressions

My preview write-up for the Avenger is here: Avengers: Batman is a Divine Striker | Critical Hits I really like them, but one thing I don't mention in the article is that they seem ideal for the player who complains about missing all the time. Rolling twice for their attacks against their...

PHB II: Am I The Only One Blown Away By The Art?

I was really happy with the art in this book, especially since they didn't use the artists I so strongly disliked from the core book at all. I'm annoyed by art re-use as well, though I didn't pick up on it from this book (and in fact answered a question wrong as a result) until specifically...

PHB2 Races = Mos Eisley Cantina

I don't think the DM should do anything except what he and his group agree on. Maybe in your games your players like it when they pick an unusual race and your townsfolk always try to kill them (and that's fine), but I prefer to run a game where my friends can play the character they want to...

[Quick review] I want to snuggle my new 4e Battlebox. Is that so wrong?

Yeah, the Paizo pad fell flat, but that sounds excellent. I just received my Battlebox in the mail yesterday and eagerly punched everything out. I love the fact that it's a sturdy, old-school boxed set box (especially since I'm able to throw my Alea Tools magnets in there too). I might start...

[Quick review] I want to snuggle my new 4e Battlebox. Is that so wrong?

Sounds great. I've already ordered mine and now just waiting for it to arrive. If you use the combat tracking pad, let me know how it works. My group is experimenting with different ways to handle initiative, currently using an open whiteboard, but that's not without its issues either, so I'm...

    What Alignment is Rorschach?

Plus it's given D&D fans something to argue about since the Internet was created. After discussing this thread with a friend, we were able to spin off a number of fake alignments that people nonetheless play. Both "Rorscach" and "Batman" would reasonably fit in there.

    Player's Handbook 2: I haz it

Not really, no. I assume he was talking about the Background rules, which almost certainly won't be in the Compendium, and may not be supported in the Character Builder (since they don't quite work the same as the FR backgrounds). I could be wrong about that.

How can I introduce Warforged into my Warhammer D&D Campaign?

That's pretty awesome. You could call them "The Grudgekeepers" and have them inscribed with an ancient grudge in ancient Dwarven, with an eternally preserved Dwarven spirit who keeps that grudge going.

    What Alignment is Rorschach?

Crap, that's what I was going to say. Sadistic Neutral was another fake alignment a friend used to play, which might work as well.

    Still just Infernal Warlocks.

    Player's Handbook 2: I haz it

They were once astral servitors of the gods who incarnated in the world to fight evil, and are constantly reincarnated. They don't reproduce, but when they reincarnate, they wake up fully grown in a sacred location. It's also mentioned that if they become corrupted, they risk becoming raksasha.

    Underdark Supplement for 4e?!?

They mentioned it at New York Comic Con too... the question was specifically about location/setting books not tied to the planes.

    Player's Handbook 2: I haz it

Big, tough mountainous guys that thrive on competition. Their Paragon Path makes them bigger (not in size category, but does give them some of the perks of being large). Their feats make them pretty badass brute-style melee guys. I prefer some of the other races (Half-Orc, Warforged) for that...

    Player's Handbook 2: I haz it

They look pretty exclusive to me... one says only with implement powers, and one says only with weapon powers, and those don't usually go together. Moonstalker Shifter makes you more like a Werewolf (or tiger, but that seems less carried through). Howl at the moon power, turn into the animal...

    Player's Handbook 2: I haz it

Turathi Highborn (for Tieflings) throw fire all around. They have a power named "Infernal Nova" Shiere Knights (for Eladrin) focus on teleporting, with some extra fear and charm stuff. Not that I saw, in fact, the close burst powers they have seem more focused on pulling enemies to them then...

    Player's Handbook 2: I haz it

Devas can improve their "Memory of a Thousand Lifetimes", get bonuses for dropping then coming back, and for dealing extra radiant damage. Half-orcs get a kind of mini-rage, and one feat gives them an extra healing surge and initiative bonus. Avenger is going to be my article on the 13th, so...

    Player's Handbook 2: I haz it

They're a kind of background, previewed here: Player's Handbook 2 Excerpts: Backgrounds No rules for, say, being a blacksmith or anything like that, other than the background skill benefits.
