Can an Unseen Crafter work inside a bag of holding?

Yep. This trick has been around for a while, though usually a Dedicated Wright construct is used instead. Not sure; the Dedicated Wright has a note in its description that it can go over 8 hours, but I don't remember the exact details and thus whether (A) you can work more than 8 hours on one...

    how do "ray builds" work?

Yep. As clarified in Complete Arcane, any weapon-based feats apply to "weaponlike spells" (i.e., those requiring attack rolls). That plus Split Ray (which doubles the effectiveness of ray spells vs. similar spells of other types) are really what make ray casters good.

    Perform skills = Languages?

It's not really off topic because I pointed out that his proposed system advanced too slowly to model real-world ability, and he disputed it; he can't really finish fleshing out the rules until either he's persuaded that he's working on the wrong scale or he decides to go with his original idea...

Clint Eastwood is Star Wars is Clint Eastwood (is Star Wars.)

Star Wars isn't "gritty" by any means--it's a heroic space opera, after all--but I do agree the original trilogy has a bit less Plot Armor than the prequels. This kind of makes sense, though, in that the prequels show a galaxy that is just starting to crumble but still has the glamor of a...

    Perform skills = Languages?

That is exactly my point! You are trying to compare what someone can do in this world to things people can do in that world. If you plopped Yo Yo Ma down in FR, he would be a 5th-level nobody if he could do in FR exactly what he could do in the real world. So being a master of the cello is...

    Perform skills = Languages?

The best in that world. The best people in this world rate around 5th-8th level in that world. Again, they don't come from the real world, so that makes sense. Leaping hundreds of feet in the air in an instant, falling a few stories and being fine, frying someone to death with lightning...

    Perform skills = Languages?

C'mon, think fantastically. Yo Yo Ma is a 5th-level cello maestro. Joshua Bell is a 5th-level violin maestro. James Galway is a 5th-level flute maestro. (Yes, I'm a classical fan.) A 20th level bard? He's a maestro at the cello, violin, pan flute, harpsichord, harmonica, and kazoo--a...

    Perform skills = Languages?

The only thing I'd change in your system is removing any limits on taking Perform ranks; 5th level is where D&D starts diverging from the real world, so having a maestro at level 5 actually makes perfect sense.

    10 foot step

In other words, if you give it out around levels 6-9 it shouldn't be a problem at all, and if you do it after 9th you might want to add some other benefits to make it more worthwhile than taking Martial Stance.

D&D 3.x Any hybrid 3e/4e treasure systems out there?

The Magic Item Compendium. It's late 3e, and goes through and revises lots of magic item pricing based on complaints/problems with the DMG pricing scheme. It's sort of a 4e playtest book in the same way ToB inspired 4e martial types--items are given levels, pricing is more standardized, random...

    Mindbender tips

It's broken-underpowered, not broken-overpowered. You get a level of casting and telepathy at level 1...and then lose 4 levels of casting to get benefits that you could easily achieve with those 4 levels of casting. There's really no reason to take the levels beyond 1st unless you are...

    A few questions

I know what the definition of SR is; it's just that that's the only lower-able immunity I knew of (the golem's magic immunity, based off of SR), and it keeps referring to the immunity as a resistance, which is what was throwing me off.

Spell Compendium: What are the "broken" spells?

Well, let me just say that if your foes are saving against your disintegrate often enough that you consider it only worth 5d6 damage, you're probably doing it wrong. ;) But as Runestar says, the same applies to any save-or-die. Yes, the melee types can dish out a lot of damage...if they get...

    A few questions

Hmm...normally that's only the case for effects derived from SR, like a golem's magic immunity, because SR specifically can be lowered; I'd never noticed that line before. The "special resistance to magic" part and the mention of elven "resistance" to sleep effects when everywhere else it's...

    A few questions

Nope. Immunity does not let you turn it on and off unless it specifically states it does. I'm fairly sure it only takes up a gauntlet slot, though I don't have my Eberron books on me at the moment. You can probably ask your DM to let you do that with the Craft Construct feat or something...

Spell Compendium: What are the "broken" spells?

I would argue that "Tome of Battle characters do it too" is a perfectly fine defense. It's not nearly as broken as most new to the book often think it is--unless they hold up core fighter and barbarian as the pinnacle of balance, in which case this thread is useless because every non-core spell...

Logical, usable and simple craft rules!

Keep in mind also that the "realism divide" (where characters go from "pretty much realistic" to "superhuman") is around 5th level, so if a crafting system is mostly realistic only below those levels, that's fine. Above those levels, you have things like the dragonlances in Dragonlance being...

Magic item that puts a stat at 18

Well, for the sake of argument, let's hash out how these items would work. I happen to have my 1e DMG on me, so here's the girdle of giant strength description: So effectively it's a variable-strength (ha ha) bull's strength spell: If you have an 11 strength, a girdle of storm giant strength...

Spell Compendium: What are the "broken" spells?

Correct: Avasculate/Avascular Mass take out half current HP, no save, and then require a Fort save to avoid being stunned for a round. They require a touch attack, however, so it isn't necessarily guaranteed damage...though it is pretty close. In the last campaign I ran, four of the ten...

Would a size Huge creature be affected by a fire shield?

Yes. "Exceptional reach" is anything longer than your natural reach--longer than 15 feet for the giant, longer than 5 feet for a human, etc.
