I had the original gray box, a later box (with the "Adventuring Quarter" in Waterdeep) and the 3E book. They were all very useful. The 3E book is fantastic. I still use it.

I've enjoyed them for one-shot games or very short (5 sessions or fewer) campaigns. I wouldn't want to use the system for a long campaign.

I don't think any of the players would be eager to switch systems. They sometimes still struggle with 5E. Learning a new system seems too daunting.

Focus fire. As much as possible, concentrate your group's efforts on one enemy. It may be the big bad guy in the back lobbing spells, but it is more likely one of the lesser monsters in melee. I was born to rage against 'em.

Greyhawk would be great for the 50 year anniversary in 2024.
