I wish I could do more time, but production on videos like this take a lot longer than the 5 minutes they are presented as. Also, I am a 1-man shop for this so that adds a burden. A good rule of thumb is to take the length of the short and multiply it by 20. That's the usual amount of time it...

A quick editorial clarification to the video. The Domesday Book was in fact not a book, rather a newsletter. It was published by the Castles & Crusades society in the late 1960s (1968?). I cut too much from that edit and wanted to clarify here.

I covered this lightly in the first EN World Presents video. 1974 - OD&D 1977 - Basic Set 1979 - AD&D Etc.... Prior to OD&D was the Chainmail supplement. That and Outdoor Survival (1972) by Avalon Hill significantly influenced the creation of D&D.

THAC0 was awesome when it came out, but the same could be said for disco, neon-green pants, and MC Hammer. One day, we all realized how silly it was and found better ways of entertaining ourselves. ...except MC Hammer. That dude just rocks.

Some people here and around the web are questioning this move and asking just how much is going to the memorial. Does that really matter? They are donating to the Gygax memorial! C'mon now. This is great news. I can't wait to get a set or two--both as a consumer and as a completist.

I like how DARPG handles abilities. Even if you roll terribly, you are still not that far removed from contributing in a meaningful way.

It's mention has brought up a flood of memories of this and other little things similar. Either way, I like that an elf is able to find secret doors, but I think it should be represented in a fixed way (bonus to Perception checks, etc...)

Gimme some XP if you had an Elf character in your party that would ask every single frickin' room. We got to a point where we (as players) banned Elves from the game :lol:

If only half the people who post here on EN world worked for WotC, it might very well be the greatest brand ever with $1b in profits. ;)

One of the things I wanted to do was pose a question, or put up a topic of discussion, solicit a conversation, and then cover it during EN World Presents. I think that covers what you're saying, but let me know if you were thinking of something different.
