I noticed there isn't a thread specifically for discussing the urban fantasy genre, so here it is.

Some Chinese, Korean, and Serbian fairy tales include stories of various creatures (e.g. humans, koi, snakes, roosters, rams) ascending to dragons. The means might include acquiring a dragon’s pearl, a wishing stone, jumping the dragon’s gate, or living a really long time.

Medieval bestiaries are full of medicinal uses for animal parts both real and imagined. I find it really odd that this hasn't filtered into more fantasy fiction and gaming outside of Harry Potter and Monster Hunter.
