Are you blowing anything off to get 4e on Friday?

Took Friday off from work. Unfortunately, my prior supervisor (who just left the company last week) was the only one that would be gamer-savvy enough to know why I wanted this Friday off, much less get the cowbell note.

    Fighters have Psionics

Definitely made me laugh reading these. And having read through just the heroic-tier Fighter powers, I can't disagree with the descriptions. Heck, may just print out the ones for the exploits my character has and use those to describe what I'm doing to the poor slob on the receiving end :D

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

Regardless of what steps companies take these days, stuff ends up on the internet. Heck, I'm sure someone with a small amount of computer savvy can find and download the entire WotC 3.5e library in a day, and most of those weren't made available as PDFs. As others noted, for those with a bit...

    Claim that name!

Jacen Herubrand, Sword-for-hire (Human Fighter) Since the first character I've created for D&D have been fighters, decided to keep the trend going, even though ranger was awfully tempting...

Two-handed weapons -- nerfed, or am I missing something?

Great for the guy that wants versatility, but what about the Fighter build that's focused on damage output? As is, they've got no reason to bother with a greatsword, especially as so many other 2h weapons either do more base damage or have high crit to enable even more damage on a nat 20. If...

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

Agreed. Green Ronin does this with for their Mutants & Masterminds line, and even set up official errata threads on their company message boards to list the errors and then try to correct as many as possible before the book goes to print. And as an added bonus, give those that bought the...

Two-handed weapons -- nerfed, or am I missing something?

Agreed, as the other instances of 1h weapons being scaled up to 2h versions, namely greataxe (+1 damage step, gains high crit) and heavy flail (+2 damage steps), get a lot more bang for their buck than the greatsword. Going by the logic apparently used for those two weapons, the greatsword...

Damn, really upset I had to miss this one, as it sounded like quite a lot of fun. Ah well, there's always next time...

What are your favorite Conan pastiches by TOR?

Does "Conan the Librarian" count? "Don't you know da dewey decimal system?" No? Nevermind then...

4e Core Rulebooks now in my hot little hands

Sounds like military intelligence or industrious stateworker or caring customer service ;) I think what Shemeska is referring to is that legit copies of the books intended for 3rd party publishers have been intercepted and released into the intertubes. Since said copies were not intended for...

Star Wars Sage Edition Heroic class...

If your a micro-managing GM with time to review every single character, which I see as a very bad thing, especially if the GM doesn't have a lot of extra time. Personally, as a GM I would much rather spend my time actually running a game than going through a character sheet with a fine tooth...

Star Wars Sage Edition Heroic class...

The basic problem I see with a single "heroic" class approach is that it will allow players to very easily cherry-pick the prime talents/feats, leading to some wildly overpowered characters, as Nifft pointed out. It works for Non-Heroics because they don't get bonus feats or talents, so balance...

SWSE - Threats of the Galaxy - I'm getting mine this evening.

There's a Teras Kasi tree for the Elite Trooper, a Malkite Poisoner tree that's supposed to be for the Scoundrel (but that detail was lost during layout apparantly), a Mercenary tree for the Soldier (and will stack with the Merc talent tree slated for the Force Unleashed Campaign Guide), a new...

    Star Wars - Force Pilot?

In the corebook there's the Force Pilot talent, which lets you use your Use the Force check when making Pilot checks and (per the devs) allows you to qualify for anything that requires you to be trained in the Pilot skill, such as feats or the Ace Pilot PrC. Starships of the Galaxy has another...

SWSE - Threats of the Galaxy - I'm getting mine this evening.

Got mine, and while the production values are pretty slick, it's of limited use to me, largely because I've long since written up a slew of generic NPCs for use in my games. The non-NPC stuff like new talents/feats/races is nice, but that's about the most usage I'm likely to get out of the book.

This Weekend @ the Boxoffice: 2008.May.19

Kinda bummed that Narnia didn't do that well in its opening weekend, as it was a really good movie, or at least I thought it was. Maybe something like that would have been better suited for a release that was closer to the holiday season much like the 1st Narnia movie was.

Pathfinder 1E Monte Cook joins Pathfinder team

So what exactly is happening? Paizo makes a big marketing announcement that they've got one of the fathers of 3rd edition D&D on board as a consultant. Yet people are frothing at the mouth and acting like it's the Second Coming, just because "they've got Monte!" Right now nobody really knows...

Pathfinder 1E Monte Cook joins Pathfinder team

Depends on the level and quantity of feedback. Looking over a couple of things and saying "looks fine to me" isn't worth crap, and in so doing that person would still be considered a "consultant," as you consulted them for their opinion on something and they gave it. Technically, anyone that...

Pathfinder 1E Monte Cook joins Pathfinder team

Nice marketing move on Paizo's part. And that's about all it really is, a marketing move.
