Heroes of Shadow Table of Contents

I just assumed that "Shade" would be PC-term for Shadar-Kai; kind of like how Doppelganger becomes Changeling. (And isn't there Shade=Shadar-Kai precedence in Forgotten Realms?)

    Correct Persistent Tail usage?

"Target: One creature..." "Effect: The first time the target moves..." You choose targets before resolving effects. If it was suppose to work on any creature in the burst it would say "Target: Creatures in burst..."

Dragon 397 - Table of Contents

/me looks at his fighter... looks at essentials. I got a few more choices for utility powers and for feats. That's a raking?

    Best Published Modules and Encounters

You don't need to reboot the campaign to start using Monster Vault monsters (or to let the PCs take the new feats or many of the powers.) I don't recall ghouls being much different though... they added more variants, of course, but the level 5 soldier version is, I thought, pretty much...

I apologize for misrepresenting your confusion and making baseless assumptions as to its cause.

    Question on Phasing

Webrunner's got it: phasing let's you go through solid objects during your movement, but if you end the action inside one, you get shunted out. In order to attack while inside a wall, a phasing creature would need an attack like Deft Strike, that let it move and attack all as a single action...

    Attacks Thru Summons

I think it's time you buy either the Rules Compendium or Arcane Power.

    shadow walk as rogue?

Are you sure that works? I believe stealth checks can only be made at the end of a move action, and I presume gloaming cut is a standard.

    D&D 4E 4E Leveling

The first game of 4e I played, I remembered thinking "Wow, my character is awesome!" After all, compared to every other edition of D&D, my 1st level character WAS awesome; he could fight like a hero without worrying that a stray house cat might murder him. He felt many times more competent...

D&D 4E Is it me, or are we in a 4e dry spell?

Huh? One, "previews" is the monthly "here's what we're doing this month" and they "hey, this product is being released soon!" articles, and they have never been paywalled. I think you mean "excerpts"... but THEY have never been paywalled either! Go check the list yourself: Dungeons & Dragons...

Ettin wrath chanter (monster vault version)

There has been no errata for monster vault. Remember, though that PC still has to make an attack roll for this to do any damage (it's still a great power though; compare to Decree of Khirad (Warlock Daily 1), which effects multiple targets, but has an attack roll.)

Class Acts: Hierophant Druids and a surprise

D'oh! I'm quite interested in the elemental source (running a campaign where the primordials will feature heavily, and wondering how they're coupling that fluff in), but I'm not a DDI subscriber. Oh well; I hope it sees print some day.

    Skill Challenges: Please stop

Critical Hits has collected a bunch of examples (and other SC advice). I haven't looked through them all, so I can't say which are the best examples. Skill Challenges : Critical Hits

How far are they going with Essentials

Well, HoSaS was. HoS was just modified (changed to a hardback and I think delayed a month.)

How far are they going with Essentials

Ah; I thought Heroes of Shadow and Heroes of Sword and Spell had been part of the list. I see I was wrong. I'd forgotten the special Essentials Dice, and apparently, one of the tile sets.

How far are they going with Essentials

Technically, Essentials is a ten-long product line, and that's it. Although now some of those have been canceled, so who knows. As for the design philosophy first seen in Essentials (classes being further from the AEDU+one power source+one role design, feats being somewhat more powerful, etc.)...

    Skill Challenges: Please stop

I agree completely with that, but disagree with... ...all of this. I never tell my players "this is a skill challenge" (and advise other DMs to do the same); it is always simply a way for me to eyeball the difficulty of a challenge and to structure the forces arrayed against the players, and...

    D&D 4E 4E feats vs Essential Feats. A list?

D&D is no longer just a set of books; it's a constantly changing thing now. You will never be able to physically hold the one, true, complete, and definitive D&D in your hands ever again. Never. If you can't get used to that, then walk away now. (Being a librarian isn't going to be a lot of fun...

    Skill Challenge Feedback

This is a good point, especially since all your skill listings are: Use "this skill" and it tells you "this". That may just be how you've written, not how you plan to approach it in game, but if that's how you're approaching it, that's also how your players will probably approach it. "There are...
