but wee both look at the playtest and see (for our own reasons) what so far looks like a new edition... so we agree on what is going on even if we disagree on how we got here.

yeah, maybe Micha is going to hate it and not buy it no matter what... but I promise there are die hard "I don't like it" today that come 3 -5 months after relase buy the book (if not day 1 or preorder)

again yes and no... they are doing so but only pushing forward if something hits a high aproval ratting. however I would argue that isn't the only thing they are doing... they are preping us. They are feeding us steak and vegies for a year so that we get our grumbles out and a year from now...

more or less yes... there was an interview around the time of tasha's where they said they thought we wanted psionics as it's own class but the mystic failed so hard they threw there hands up and made the subclasses... that is not a word for word. actually a good metaphor customers don't always...

there is a bit of truth to this... and customers don't really know what they want. That if a chief took a poll they would end up making burgers, but everyone will pay top dollar for there file minion

early in 5e we talked about useing the mutants and master minds power attack/expertise updated to advantage.... so you could take disadvantage on attacks to grant disadvantage if anyone attacks you or you could gain advantage on attack but grant advantage to enemies...

right... and now we have a new 1D&D... and I (and others) feel it is at least as big a jump as 1e/2e or 3e/3.5 and we have always called both of those editions... changing the way we use the word edition is just making it more complex, but I have for a while tried to say "Version"

really? I have to go back I could of sworse it said to go with the new one... but you may be right no one race cahnge... not a new game... concept of race (even the word race) alone might not... concept of backgrounrd and the background feature by itself being turned into a feat may not...

that's the thing... new players didn't know to look out for traps or ivory tower desgin... that is why it worked better with new players then some older ones...

maybe it's because I am here more often then other places, but people argue how popular it is, so our tepid responce I thought was an outlier...maybe not
