Interesting results. I would have thought that the accuracy of stats wouldn't be as important, but according to the poll so far, people want exact stats or none at all. BD

Best thing to do is write-up your item without any backstory, then if there's still room, go back an add a bit. Although, honestly, if you look at the wondrous items in the DMG, none of them have any backstory or extra fluff. I hit 199 words without a bit of fluff. :D BD

Option 1 or 2. The stats don't have to be packaged with the novel, but when you do get the stats (from the web site, web enhancement, etc.) how accurate do you want them to be? BD

I do use a rough outline, but I also like the story to develop organically in some sense. My outline consists of what I generally want to happen in a chapter, but it doesn't cover the blow-by-blow parts of combat, where stat issues are more likely to occur. Bu as I said, I'm managing with the...

The sonnet analogy is a good one. Although, I like to think it's more like a sestina or a villanelle; there's a definite structure to follow, but the poet has a bit more leeway with the meter. :) BD

This is very cool. The eligibility rules are a little fuzzy, though. I've never appeared on the cover of a "hardback" RPG book, but I work full time as an RPG writer/designer/editor. I guess I'll just have to ask if I'm eligible. I hope so, this looks like a hell of a lot of fun. BD

That's good advice; in fact, it's how I got started. Posting your creations on a messageboard like EN World can let publishers see your work with no risk. And what's better, if you're work is well received, then often times, the publishers will come to you. ;) BD

Sure, how "good" a story hour might be is entirely subjective; however, this formula does show which story hours are being read on a regular basis. As i said eariler, what we can see is that story hours in general are being read more, and that should be encouraging to any story hour author. But...
