[Goodman Games] Blackdirge's Dungeon Denizens Preview: Hollow Ones

That's an interesting point. It's meant to be an immediate reaction, as it is for the other hollow ones. As you point out, the hollow spawn would die before it could use the ability if the attack dealt any damage. However, it would still be useful against other types of Will-based attacks...

How frequent are vermin encounters in your game?

Thanks for the plug, Rechan. I love vermin, and I use them all the time. There's an ickyness factor to giant insects and other invertebrates that is hard to achieve with other monsters. I mean, being eaten alive by a giant spider or a giant praying mantis is beyond horrible; there's just an...

[Goodman/Blackdirge] Critter Cache II: Prehistoric Beasts released!

You know, I struggled with that for a while. First of all, I'm a big a paleontology buff, and I'm one of the folks that believes T-Rex was an active hunter, and may have even hunted in packs. Because of that, I went with skirmisher over brute. As for level, T-rex was one of the most powerful...

[Goodman Games] Blackdirge's Dungeon Denizens Preview: Hollow Ones

Good catch. It should be Ranged 10. We'll have that fixed. Some are conversions and some are completely new monsters. There were quite a few that didn't make the cut, usually because we had too many of a specific type of monster (constructs and oozes spring to mind). BD

    Shemeska's Planescape Storyhour (Updated 29 Jan 2014)

My experience was similar. My story hours and monster threads gained the attention of a few publishers, Goodman Games most prominent among them, and I started to find that people were already familiar with my work when I submitted queries. In the beginning I did a lot of editing/stat work, and...

That sounds awesome, man. Great to see you getting high profile freelance work - you deserve it. Quick question for you. How instrumental, in your opinion, was your story hour in the getting of said freelance work? I know my own story hours and monster threads were very helpful in getting my...

[Goodman/Blackdirge] More "Critters" for your 4E game

You are correct, sir. Most of these two supplements were written befoe Adventurer's Vault. However, it's only 4 monsters out of 52, so it's just a little overlap. Plus, my elephant, rhino, triceratops, and giant lizard are better than WotC's. :p BD
