How hard is a 4E black dragon fight?

Yes but both Dragonborn have acid breath and I believe Black Dragons have resist acid 5 or something.

How hard is a 4E black dragon fight?

I think you're right, I don't have the Monster Manual in front of me.

How hard is a 4E black dragon fight?

This 4th edition party consists of six (6) characters. Can they defeat a level 4 (Black Dragon from the Monster Manual) in their current state? Some of the players are really worried it will easily turn in to a TPK. Level 2 Player Characters: Human Archer Ranger - Dex 20, already used her...

    Warlord build

May I please have some comments to optimize this character? Originally I went with 16,16 stats but dropped to 16,14,14,13,10,8 in order to hopefully qualify for better feats later on. What are you thoughts? The party that I support consists of a Charisma Halfling Paladin, Dex 20 Human Ranger...

Forked Thread: D&D needs to grow up (ala scifi in the mid-20th century?)

Adding adult themes to comics does not represent "growing up". Comics can and do achieve intelligent stories and critical acclaim without becoming Rated R. The idea that you need to add elements that are inappropriate for minors in order to grow up is silly but it comes up again and again.

What is your second edition experience (no edition war!!!)

I played 2nd edition and it drove me to abandon D&D in favor of Vampire: the Masquerade. 3rd edition brought me back to the Dungeons & Dragons fold but 4th edition is better.

    WotC Spring 2009 Catalog

By the time Arcane Power comes out we'll have a full set of arcane classes + 1: arcane defender (swordmage), arcane leader (bard), arcane striker (warlock), and TWO arcane controllers (wizards + sorcerer). AND we still won't have a Martial Controller. The all martial game needs a controller...

How do you like your action points?

Are you a resource hoarder? Do you like actions points gained when you level, based on activating flaws, or granted while adventuring like 4th edition?

    What's with the Gnome Hate?

On what statistical theory do you base your analysis that a sample size of 1,000 is too small? It might "feel" too small but it is, in fact, a valid quantity to sample out of a population.

    D&D 4E d20 Modern 4E - I want it!

In order: The D20 Modern Core Rulebook is a perennial item while it’s supplements, like D20 Past, haven’t fared as well. Supplements for a line probably sell no more than half what the core book sold. The fate of the Forgotten Realms line in 4th edition shows what happens to ongoing support...

    What's with the Gnome Hate?

Isn't it a poorly kept secret that the AD&D 2nd edition complete books of gnomes and halflings sold very little compared with the separate books on elves and dwarves? The memory of poor sales was what motivated Wizards of the Coast to shoehorn gnomes into Races of Stone, a book about dwarves...

    What's with the Gnome Hate?

The tinker meme is the only successful identity that gnomes have or that has gained them traction. I don’t play World of Warcraft but looking at some art, the gnomes there look like techno-goblins (i.e. smart goblins that use machines and still love to destroy stuff). Even the Santa Claus vide...

    What's with the Gnome Hate?

Put me in the anti-gnome camp. I do not include (or allow) gnomes in my homebrew world. Reasons D&D gnomes are no good? Dragonlance, lawn gnomes, they're not like Narnia gnomes, and they don't have their own space. One of the justification for cutting gnomes from the 4th edition Player's...

    D&D 4E d20 Modern 4E - I want it!

Greg_K, you qouted a lot of my post but mysteriously failed to quote the section you're refuting. This last line of my post is tangential to my core point. I take it that this (scaling from mere mortal in to heroic instead of starting at heroic) is the only area where we disagree. So I'll...

    D&D 4E d20 Modern 4E - I want it!

Try this logic on for size… If every character class is mechanically fun in combat and mechanically fun in some area outside of combat, you can run any type of game you want. Want a time-to-shine game? Some players emphasize the combat aspect of their characters and some emphasize other...

    Cost of Core Books PDFs

Wizards of the Coast does not control the prices set by retailers. In fact, the sales price to manufacturers is about half of MSRP. If retailers choose to slash their half of the margin equation there isn't a lot that Wizards should do about it. Trying to fiddle with the PDF pricing because...

    D&D 4E d20 Modern 4E - I want it!

Being forced into multiclassing using the d20 System is bad design. Additionally, quotes from The Game Mechanics constitute one designer's opinion and not official policy. Perhaps the reason this "rule" never appears in a Wizards of the Coast book is because there wasn't universal agreement in...

    Earthdawn 4e Announced

Too bad some companies are narrow minded. I would have loved to see the innovative new ideas Shadowrun would have brought to the d20 System. Rifts could really be improved by d20 combat rules as well, too bad Palladium is stuck in the 80s of game design. Oh well, at least we've seen...
