Will anyone fill WOTC's shoes with 3E?

Green Ronin has all but replaced 3rd edition (or D&D v3.5 if you prefer) already with True20 and Mutants & Masterminds. I'm not sure why they'd move backwards towards Wizards of the Coast core rules.

Fantasy Concepts: An OGL Fantasy Saga Project

Wizards of the Coast experienced large slowdowns in D&D sales immediately prior to the release of v.3.5. Ghostwalk might be the all time worst selling 3rd edition product ever. During that same period leading up to a new Dungeons & Dragons edition the d20 products by White Wolf, Green Ronin...

D&D 4E The Realms being the first 4e setting

The Forgotten Realms novels (especially R.A. Salvatore's drow) keep the setting alive ahead of any other option. I'm not a fan of the Realms but it could have had a 3.5 update so it's a logical first choice for 4th edition. Numerous attempts at Greyhawk and generic Dungeons & Dragons novels in...

Hate for new look for Green Dragon

The green dragon looks very cool to me. I also don't like the silly head of the 3rd edition green dragon. Dragons from Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition also cause problems with established settings (you'll notice that none of the Dragonlance versions look like 3rd edition).

How do fans of OTHER RPGs handle new editions?

White Wolf's Vampire: the Masquerade and other titles had new editions every other year or something in the early days. I don't remember shouts and complaints at the time. Sometimes it seems like only D&D fans are annoying.

    PHB, MM, DMG covers

They look great to me too! And yes, I was thinking that was Orcus as well. The red dragon seems inspired by the Todd Lockwood designs while the green dragon show elsewhere doesn't. :uhoh: Also keep in mind that the colored title bar will be carried across books. So expect DM supplements to...

Anyone else think 4th Ed is to combat WoW?

Good design is still good design, no matter if it inspiration is taken from True20, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, World of Warcraft, Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons & Dragons Online, or Basic D&D. It's not an argument to say you don't like that 4th edition resembles one game or another. Point to...

d20 Modern: What Would you change part II

Is this something like how Modern 2.0 occupations will work? This could definitely be a great house rule (perhaps even in Star Wars Saga Edition) for the rest of us.

My brilliant plans have been dashed against the rocks

I plan to continue working on Fantasy Saga Edition for two (2) reason: 1. Wizards of the Coast still has plenty of time to make small changes and improvements to Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition. The Player's Handbook will go to press probably in January or February. They even made message...

D&D 4E What Changes Do You Hope They Make To The 4E Rules?

It sounds like I just might get my wish (http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=203395 :p) since I want Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition = Star Wars Saga Edition.

What old setting would you like to see republished?

Can anyone even name all the settings which Wizards of the Coast owns? Top Secret S.I. Gamma World Dark*Matter Magic: The Gathering (perhaps by specific setting like Ravnica: City of Guilds) Dreamblade Dragonlance Star Frontiers Boot Hill And what about all the settings owned by Hasbro...

d20 Modern: What Would you change part II

The Modern d2.0 ideas you present aren't what I'd choose but I want to say thanks. You definitely got me to consider some new concepts. I prefer Saga and in trying to come up with points I stumbled upon the following idea... Breaking down a character in to its constituent parts 1. Initial...

Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

Again, what you say just isn't true. D&D is in a class of its own. Nothing outsells top supplements like Complete Warrior or Draconomicon except other Dungeons & Dragons books. Right now the four (4) year old Player's Handbook is ranked #4,314 on Amazon.com easily besting Star Wars Saga...

    Words aren't enough, are they?

I use my own world and prefer other material to be as inspirational as possible. Therefore, "high production values" are the most important part of any Campaign Setting which I buy. Specifically art for all the core concepts like monsters, classes, and species. For years I was buying entire...

Fantasy Concepts: An OGL Fantasy Saga Project

I concur with Sorcica. Leaving spells as is for now helps the goals of 1) copy Saga and D&D with as few changes as possible, 2) finish the project quickly, and 3) keep close compatibility with existing published material without violating #1 or #2. Make a separate book that has a good solution...

d20 Modern: What Would you change part II

Yes, the Fast Hero base class was a glaring failure in D20 Modern as Gunslingers don't want to have worse BAB than Swordsmen (or apparently being strong makes you a better shot than being agile). Mokona's rules of "good" class systems... 1. Base Attack Bonus All warriors have a...

Is WoTC even relevant to you anymore?

Wild speculation doesn't make for a good argument. If the Star Wars Roleplaying Game were so profitable you'd see full support and a book every month or so. As it is we barely get anything and much of it is dedicated to the miniatures game. This evidence points to the fact that Wizards of the...

Fantasy Concepts: An OGL Fantasy Saga Project

Welcome to the party. We've gotten pretty deep here but I think a fresh perspective can definitely help. QFT in that I'm also crazy ;) about the Marvel Super Heroes boxed set. Any game that steals ideas from Marvel Super Heroes wins points :D in my book. Being a healing-robot isn't fun...

d20 Modern: What Would you change part II

The mass success and appeal of Dungeons & Dragons strongly supports your theory (I happen to agree with you) that classes are important. Classes are fundamentally about K.I.S.S. in gaming (Keep It Simple, Silly :p). A lot of classless systems exists and are cool but they've never taken off...
