It's not as bad as dying, but getting shut down with a save you literally can't make does suck. The idea of the save/s getting easier isn't bad, but if there's an expectation of symmetry at the table then that's going to nerf some things the PCs will (or at least might) want to do, as well...

We own, but haven't gotten around to playing, Jaws of the Lion. When I looked through it, it seemed as though it would be a superb introduction to what Gloomhaven and Frosthaven are doing.

It's not wildly different. There were brewers making delicious, wildly hoppy beers; and there were brewers making unbalanced messes.

Unrelated to the above: That's probably one of the most-incorrect things I've seen someone say about this hobby in some time.

Working around different ... thresholds, such as around spicy heat, can be challenging. We could (and have) get a pizza with jalapenos on half of it; I've taken to seasoning food I cook differently--where possible, keeping track of which item is hers, and seasoning it less than mine. I still...

That stuff, to me, isn't licorice--it's certainly not the flavor that makes me gag. It's not my favorite, either, but it's not horrific. Alas, I'm not a fan of any leafy greens, and how I feel about tomatoes as a topping will depend on how thoroughly they get cooked (I don't like raw tomatoes)...

I can't stand licorice at all, in any form. I can barely tolerate anise/star anise/fennel, even in contexts they belong. Jalapenos, pineapple, bacon/ham, onions. That's my own jam.

I like jalapenos on pizza, but my wife doesn't have as much tolerance for capsaicin as I do, so we don't do that much. I'm not normally a person to sprinkle red pepper flakes on my pizza, but I've come to appreciate Burlap & Barrel's Diavolo spice blend as a pizza sprinkle.

Licorice is an abomination, in any context. I could go with jalapenos and pineapple on a pizza, though.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear of someone using butter on top of a burger--this is a thing I have a vague sense I've heard of--and especially compound butter seems as though it'd be nice.
