My group uses google hang out. I draw on a hand held white board and hold it up to the camera 👍 There are definitely concessions to be made when playing online but it’s doable if you keep it simple.

Like any relationship you should put in what is commensurate with what you get out of it. If you’re giving all the time people will only be able to take. 👍

Start a new game with the people who normally turn up. But do take a break. This may be a bitter pill but don’t over invest in the game. It’s s thing that adults often just can’t commit the way they could when younger and footloose and fancy free.

When you have more than five characters you’re probably covering all the bases. 5e is really forgiving about party balance. My guys have been playing a year without a rogue or cleric with no worries.

I used to love how the Ars Magica time line was nearly OWOD. I was a sucker for cross overs in the 90s.

I let my group redefine anything they like. I could be a feat or spell or sub class option. I don’t see how keeping them bound to a decision they regret months ago is fun for them.

In game time my campaign has been going for six months with one block of two weeks down time.

The group I run are knocking on 11th level for the first time in ever with wizard, druid, fighter, ranger. We’ve been playing the campaign for about a year and no one has complained about the high levelness. I would not be so keen to continue is it was 3.5 ed, though.

Not since Basic D&D. I’m not keen on inflated stats buts playing a dire roll character is normally not fun.

The only house rules my group has is changing normal resting rules to gritty realism for long distance travel and back to normal for dungeon crawling.

Dunno about that. A guy in my group died and rolled up a new guy (level 10). Played one session, went on holiday: his guy was there when a cave dragon breathed and failed his DM made save. Dead but resurrected (two sessions later). It does happen.

Everyone I’m my game get the same experience. I can’t be doing with player inequality.
