    [Epic] What do you think?

SLightly off-topic (As I'm getting really prone to doing). I wouldn't suggest for DMs to worry too much about the destroying items aspect of MDJ. Depending on the party level, the Will save may be prohibitive enough to protect most of your valued equipment (And dependant on how much the...

What is 3.0 & 3.5 missing that previous editions had?

Heh, well, that was in reference to a comment made that implied 3e lacked something that it did not :). In anycase, if ya want my contribution it's dingo kidneys, but hey. To me, the only bits I reminsce are the more open ended/less structured nature of adventuring in prior editions of D&D...

    Interacting with Illusions

Ah I see me thinks. Ghost Sound has a duration. For me, interact would consist of individuals trying to : A) Speak with the Ghost Sound (most commonly when paired with Silent Image) B) Any (active) Listen check related to the Ghost Sound. I'd allow the later really for the last Bad Guy to...

What is 3.0 & 3.5 missing that previous editions had?

The standard templates in the PH help a good bit with that and are intended for that. They take most of the time consumption out of character creation (At least at first). At least in my experience, most of the time in chargen comes from selecting skills + feats.

BAB 20+! (not epic BAB, regular)

Hmm, actually this reminded me of the 3.0 Tenser's Transformation and it's interaction with ELH. It isn't that BAB can't increase past +20 (Monsters show that to not be the case quite nicely, unless you wish to contend that the colossal zombie is an epic monster). The rule is that Class Levels...

    Lord of the Oscars

That I did not know, and at least it slightly reassuring. Doesn't hinder my feeling that many of the categories that I saw LotR win before switching to Adult Swim were items they were nominated for in the past. And Zappo gives another part of my frustration at the situation :) (After all, just...

For Players: How do you feel about House Rules?

Well, that would be annoying, but then it even takes the role of interpreter away from the DM. Stuff like maintaining that Animal Empathy from PsiHB gives an enhancement bonus and not an unnamed bonus, that the readied actions don't exactly take place "immediately before the triggering...

BAB 20+! (not epic BAB, regular)

In 3.0 there was an exception to that rule that was never really explained (the Solar). In 3.5, his attacks were fixed. Monsters may get an extra attack in a similar manner to players (Flurry, Multi-Weapon Fighting, etc), but it is a bonus attack and not an extra iterative attack (Even the...

Vow of Poverty and one-use items

Actually I believe creamsteak was trying to make a distinction between someone else using a potion on you (pouring potion down your throat, and you 'drinking' it instead of spitting it back into the vial) and you pouring the potion in your mouth. And that interpretation seems the 'easiest'...

Player Researched Spell / Celestial Aspect (Avoral)

One of my players has come up with a spell idea (prodded by some in-world requirements for advancement as a wizard) and I'm toying around the balance issues with the spell. It's based roughly around Fiendform in it's design, and just curious about opinions/takes on it. And if it is "too much"...

    Lord of the Oscars

My point mostly was that they won awards for photography/cinematopgraphy for scenes that were nominated for the same awards in the past two years.

Piratecat's dungeon design: fun with tesseracts!

Quick, mostly off topic, question/comment about Tesseracts/Hypercubes. Does anyone here know who formalized the theory/definition for them?

    [Epic] What do you think?

It seems the Epic level revisions are being scattered throughout the player hardsplats.

    Lord of the Oscars

Frustrating me a bit, as alot of the awards were categories that they were nominated for in the past, and very little in the ways of the major technical awards actually was 'different' from the prior two movies. Especially since they were all filmed and edited at the same time to begin with...

For Players: How do you feel about House Rules?

As a DM I like House Rules for adding flavor. Rule 0 handles most of the problematic power issues well enough. Of course, they're mostly written down as well. As a player, as long as I know them, it's ok with me usually.

When creating your "dungeon" do you really make it a "maze"?

I personally only have two mazes in my campaign. One that emulates the madness of Undermountain which comes close to defeating the point of mapping in the first place. And the other is a maze to better guard an artifact. The (in game) crafters intended for a maze for their own purposes :)...

The Book of Exalted Deeds - For Mature Players

My problem with "role-playing" penalties is that they aren't really penalties. It's the character you in theory want to play. The idea that the character type of "I want to be a person who holds himself to a higher standard than most people could only aspire to obtain." somehow necessitates...

Why Forge Ring when you can Craft Wondrous?

Also interestingly enough, not consistant with 3.0 Psi Universal Items. 3.0 PsiHB shows a number of items (torcs) which can be worn in different locations at no cost change.

    Updating 3.0 Psions to 3.5

Hehe, that sucked in general. Psychometabolism wasn't usable. Psychokinesis ended up dependant on Charisma. It's in either the errata or the clarifications, but still frustrating :). In all, the at glance appearance seems that updating Psions from 3.0 to 3.5 will involve a great retcon level.

    Characters defined by "their stuff"

Hmm, to me, it's less defined by their stuff. While it is assumed that the party will effectively have a certain relative baseline (ie, this ammount of 'magic bonuses' to armor class or to hit), much of the specifics of the character are defined by their choices. 3.5 itself reduces alot of the...
