    D&D 5E (2024) Do you plan to adopt D&D5.5One2024Redux?

Depends on what you mean by "the lore". There's a lot of stuff in the three SRDs (3rd, 3.5, and 5th) and the original/revised/complete Tome of Horrors that very clearly and distinctively originates in D&D, rather than, say, Tunnels & Trolls or Palladium Fantasy. It might not be "the lore" in a...

D&D 5E (2014) Vecna: Eve of Ruin Coming May 21st!

I mean, my question was, "Wait, why is Vecna trying to destroy the multiverse? Isn't that Tharizdun's job?" Reading the link, it instead seems to be a repeat of the Die Vecna Die! transform-to-take-over plot. Perhaps Vecna has simply forgotten that didn't work last time?

D&D 5E (2014) Why Is The Assassin Rpgue?

It's not that bad. At worst, "Assassinate" is overly-circumstantial, and the disguise stuff doesn't see any use in a campaign, and you have a character who simply does what literally any rogue could. That's not great, but the Way of the Four Elements tempts inexperienced players with a promise...

    WotC Hasbro selling D&D IP?

In retrospect, I'm convinced what truly killed 4e was the "annual PHB" model choking off new player acquisition even harder than the old "release a splatbook for everything" model did. I wouldn't have diagnosed things that way even as late as 2016. But 5e's totally atypical sales growth curve...

D&D 5E (2014) Amazon US book sales rank.

I might have believed it outselling any previous edition's PHB, actually. IIRC, back in 2014 I thought 5th had hit a sweet spot, design wise, and was well suited to be the baseline reference edition for Hasbro efforts to license the brand. More logical/systematic than AD&D ever had been, much...

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Forgotten Realms experiencing a new Golden Age now that its NOT the default 5e setting anymore?

No, they weren't. FR was explicitly Great Wheel through the end of AD&D, then was explicitly World Tree in 3rd/3.5, and then explicitly World Axis in 4th. There was fanon during 3rd that the World Tree was just an in-universe model, and that fanon got a bit extra popularity when the Sword Coast...

All that's forever is the undead! FR was murdered by the Avatar Trilogy, and animate dead is an evil act!

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

No, the exception he was remarking on was that in 1e and 2e, mummies were (by the monster description) imbued with positive energy, not negative like all other undead. 1e Monster Manual: 2e Monstrous Compendium 1 and Monstrous Manual: 2e Van Richten's Guide to the Ancient Dead:

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

You don't need to worry about them starting; the publishers of D&D, whomever they are at any given time, have been doing it since at least Supplement IV: Gods, Demi-Gods, & Heroes, in the "Introduction" dated July 4, 1976. Nowadays, they generally do it rather more subtly than they did then...
