    Art of the Peel

Wow you really are unfamiliar with the game. A wizard who has done everything increase AC has an AC of 18 (5 for int, 2 for leather armor, 1 for staff). A paladin who has done nothing to improve AC has an AC of 18 (8 for plate). With the buff, the wizard actually has a higher AC then the...

    Action Point Limits?

Well, my first thought was that these powers didn't overrule the once per encounter rule. Somebody however pointed out that the wording says you HAVE to spend these actions points by the end of the round. This could imply that you have no choice in the matter, and that it's a matter of the...

    Art of the Peel

Except of course that it has solved this probled as has been described above. You might know this if you had actually played the game, but of course you have made it quite clear that you have thrown away your 4e books out of your distate for the game. Paladins are not that much dramatically...

    Art of the Peel

Well first off regarding the spirit of the rules, the designers have specifically stated the point is not for the defender's target to in any way be forced to attack the defender. It is very much within the spirit of the rules for the defenders target to have the option to attack somebody...

    Art of the Peel

Except as pointed out above, that's not true. As it stands now, the paladin CAN dps better then the dps, but only against the target he has marked and only if that target is ignoring him. The extra damage that will be done by the paladin's challenge is more then the extra damage that is done by...

    Art of the Peel

Hmm....I noticed with my fighter that it was often hard to prevent people from attacking other melee combatants as well. However I'm not sure this really so awful, because when I'm ignored I do more damage then a striker and the person they are attacking often becomes as hard to hit as a...

Help reign in a player who refuses to play his role

A lot of people use roleplaying to justify playing an annoying or disruptive character. They ignore the fact that it's actually horrible roleplaying to play a character who would normally be kicked out by the group because you know your a PC and that can't happen to you without out of game...

Solo Monsters and the Risk of Boredom

I agree dragons SHOULD be fun right off the back, but in practice it's just hard to make a single monster fun end exciting versus a whole party. I'm not sure that any edition of d&d has ever really gotten dragons perfect. Dragons in edition 1-3 were generally just way too easily killed...

Solo Monsters and the Risk of Boredom

Actually that feat would be strong that everyone would take it. It would also give clerics infinite healing in long fights, which would completely break game balance.

    Grading Daily Powers

Doesn't Guardian of the Faith still occupy a square, and thus somebody else can't share it's space? I know people can move through it now, but I didn't think people could stop in it's square. Lead the attack may or may not be as good as advertised, depending on how often your DM uses solo...

Solo Monsters and the Risk of Boredom

How long a solo fight lasts will often depend a lot on the types of daily powers the players choose. Some powers are really good at doing large non repeatable chunks of damage. These powers are great for fighting groups, but are not good against solos. Other powers give you constant sustained...

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

It uses the word "entering". You are not entering a space if you already in that space. That's not part of the rules, it's part of the english language. If you are already in a house, walking around that house is not entering it.

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

Actually the way wall of fire works cannot remotely be questioned. It's a conjuration so it takes up a certain space, just like creatures do. It has an effect when you enter it's space. Unlike blade barrier there are no wierd wordings that could possibly indicate anything else. It very...

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

I thought it was just called a D&D rules discussion :)

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

I have to disagree, I'm going to side with hypersmurf that there's no evidence at all for every square being counted as a space, and there is quite a bit of evidence for the contrary.

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

I'm not sure about the RAI......it's true it makes more sense but the RAI are often more concerned about game balance. As for the space thing, where in the rules are you coming up with that justification? On a side note, wouldn't somebody slid into a blade barrier get to make a save or go...

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

Yep I believe that is all correct. Not sure about the damage from multiple blade barrier spaces though. It says you take damage if you enter the space of the blade barrier, but I'd think that would imply just once rather then once per square. It would be different if it said you took damage if...

    Question (Potential Breaking Combo)

Flavor aside, I believe you only hit your opponent when you make an attack roll. Since blade barrier isn't making attack rolls, it does not count as a hit. With that being said, trick strike and blade barrier could still be a pretty good combo.

    2h weapon imbalance?

High crit sounds impressive, but the actual damage increase it gives you is quite low. A high crit great axe at heroic tier will do an extra 6.5 damage on average on a crit. You will score a crit 1 out of 20 attacks. As a result the high crit feature gives you an average of .325 damage on each...

D&D 4E 4e's Inorganic Loot System: Yay or Nay?

You can always give the dragon a bunch of low level items in his horde and just assume the players will sell/disenchant them. If you do that you should probably just consider them treasure and only count them as 20% of the value of the items. Your players might even find it handy to have a...
