    The monster 'crit' problem

Yeah, I don't think that they'll be doing that. Or if they do, it would be something like "increases crit threat range by 1", rather than the old doubler ones they had. Those were just silly when you could pick up a couple and start critting on a 12. :D

Are weapon mastery feats intended to be *class-specific* multiclass feats?

Also, someone asked CS about it and they said that, yes, when you multiclass into a Fighter you qualify for anything that says "Any Martial Class". I would assume of course, that this applies to all multiclass combinations. Whether this is the same as having access to the Martial power source...

    Magic Item Wish List????

Yeah, but now that you got all the necessary equipment out of the way he can give you boots of wall walking or something. You'll be like "WTF? Who wants these?" and perhaps someone will find a neat for use for them. The players don't need to have EVERY item outlined, and they don't need to...

    Magic Item Wish List????

I think you can still surprise them though. For one, not every person is going to have one "best item" in each category that they'll just want higher and higher level versions of. Like me? I don't really care much about gloves or boots. Cloaks, I have a few ideas, but nothing concrete. In...

    Is "Shield" too powerful?

Yeah, but there's 3 people in this thread, only one of whom is KD, that are throwing around giant posts talking about all the Second Chance vs Shield math. Also, if you want another power to compare it to, how about Shielded Sides? It's also a level 2 Utility, but it only grants +2 AC and REF...

    Is "Shield" too powerful?

Despite all of this math, I have yet to see an explanation of why Shield and Second Chance should even be similar in power.

D&D 4E Paladins - The first 4e class to fail

Another thing that the Pally can do along those is to allow double marking with focus fire. If you have both a Fighter and a Pally in the party, they can both attack the same monster and have the Fighter mark him, while the Pally can spend his minor to mark an adjacent target. This allows for...

    Gale of Steel

What does it saying "each" in the target line have to do with anything? All Burst 1 Fighter powers say that. The fact is, you shift 1 and repeat the attack (Burst 1) against any foes that were not already hit by the power. There's nothing in there that lends itself to repeating it over and...

D&D 4E Paladins - The first 4e class to fail

Yeah, you should always double check the math from the character builder... What probably happened is that the Character Builder calculated his actual AC, and then put "Aegis bonus: +3 to AC when you have a free hand" in the class features section. It might not consider it to be part of your...

Running and Shooting at the same time?

You could always go Rogue and pick up that Tumbling power. Then you could do it Captain Kirk style and run out, roll, then fire. =) But yes, both the Ranger and the Rogue have powers that allow them to move and attack as one action, then you just use your regular move to get back behind cover.

House rule: Maximised chance to hit

Scary? Scary is a Dragonborn Fighter who took a 12 (+2 racial) in STR and doesn't care about qualifying for feats because he bought an 18 INT and Paragon Multiclassed Wizard so that he could mark all enemies in a Burst 1 At-Will. Such combinations are nearly impossible with the current rules...

    Wizard Woes

Well, if you can get most of the group ahead of the monsters in terms of initiative, then it's easy to just have everyone delay until after you go. This way, you get to lay down an AoE bomb, but they still get to go before the enemies as long as you're ahead of the bad guys in initiative order.

    Magic Item Wish List????

Well, the main thing with balance is not the item powers, but the bonuses. PC's need the bonuses to hit, AC and NAD's mainly, everything else is just extra stuff. If you're in a low magic campaign your DM can keep you relatively balanced by just handing out generic +X items, which are the most...

D&D 4E Paladins - The first 4e class to fail

That's a lot of assumptions. In the case of my party, I'm +2 ahead of the Paladin for hitting OA's (+2 weapon, FWT, 12 WIS). That's something, but not unmissable. The Paladin can still hurt someone bad with his OA's, as he's doing them with a Greataxe. Yes, the enemy's movement won't be...

    Magic Item Wish List????

Yes and no. For some things, yes you can guess, but there's plenty that you can't. As a Dragonborn Fighter going STR/CON I have a LOT of surges (12) compared to the other party members. As such, I'm a good candidate for the Healer's Sash since I have the surges to spare. However, I'm also...

True, you'd just end up with the same imbalance, but in reverse.

House rule: Maximised chance to hit

Before you go along with this house rule, might I suggest explaining to your players how the system works? Everything is sort of based around having a 16 in your primary stat, anything above that is just gravy. So, in the case where you get a racial bonus to your primary stat, you'll have an...

    Wearing armor and resting

The problem with that though is that you're placing an extra burden on non-DEX/INT classes. The Wizard in Leather will only lose a couple points of AC, whereas I'm losing 8. He doesn't really need a backup set of armor, or a summonable set, which frees him up to have more useful enchantments...

D&D 4E Paladins - The first 4e class to fail

And what prevents an enemy from blowing past the Fighter and eating a Combat Challenge attack and an OA? Sure, a high WIS Fighter will likely nail that OA, but not all Fighters are high WIS. If the Fighter misses, it doesn't stop movement. Even if he hits, it's possibly that the monster might...

    Gale of Steel

No, you can't repeat it. Basically, it's just saying that you can shift 1 and the do another burst attack against anyone who wasn't successfully hit by the first one. This lets you get two shots in against guys who dodged it the first time, and possibly include some new enemies that weren't...
