Thanks guys! I really appreciate the help!
Cristian: I browsed that site, and they have a section for budget decks too.
Some people in the comments sections were talking about how they bought their decks for $10 shipped or something. Where can you buy these cards online at their listed values?
Check out Treantmonk's wizard guide. He stresses spells that don't have a save or suck component.
I've played a (starting 14 INT) halfling wizard, but looking back, I can't remember ever having enemies need to save against my spells (or very rarely anyway).
If you do want saving throw...
I last played during Ice Age. I just found out today there are no interrupts anymore.
Anyway, my D&D group wants to play M:tG when prepping for games (we have a player who is crucial to the story but is often late because of work).
Here's the caveat: I don't have a lot of money to spend...
How many barbarian levels are we talking here?
Barbarian won't allow you to dump DEX in point buy, and level 11 fighters are much better IMO than level 6 fighter/5 barbarians.

Maxing out CHA and 2 levels of warlock makes you an effective ranged combatant no matter what.
I just got to thinking about it today, and for some reason, a exclusive pre order entered my head, but I can't remember exactly what the deal was.
If anybody can decipher my rambling, LMK. :)
I'd add something in there about almost dying from your wounds, so you can add in a hook with another character, hopefully a PC who nursed you back from the brink of death.
This way, at least you'll have a connection to somebody.
The low WIS would worry me more on perception checks (the most common check, or so I've been told).
The Hold Person spell is made for casting on a warrior type. Casters don't expect to land it on a spellcaster that has proficiency in the save. Given the choice, they're more likely to land the...
Variant human
STR 8 DEX 16 CON 16 INT 16 WIS 8 CHA 8
Feat: resilient (CON)
Is this taking it too far? While I don't plan on making him the party face or multiclassing, making DEX and CON 14's to bump WIS and maybe CHA might not be a bad idea.
Exactly. Hence my support for a gish that is either a full caster, or just a one level dip into a class to give them armor proficiency.
With point buy, rocking a 16 CON, medium armor, and an axe or hammer makes a dwarf wizard an awesome gish (16 AC and 9 HP w/ 14/14/16/14/10/8)
Especially w/ point buy, which is how I roll.
I wanted to point out a few good Gish builds:
1) mountain dwarf abjuror. With point buy, you need a 14+ DEX (maybe medium armor mastery much later), a high CON and of course a high INT. The medium armor proficiency from race means you really...
Why would I want to drag an enemy to me? I'm not a fighter. :p
I have goodberry as my magic initiate spell. It is possible for me to switch it out for entangle though, I need to look at it.
I like the secondary effect of ray of frost. Produce flame is there because it's useful on different...
Re: spare the dying: my goodberries should do the trick.
Thanks for bringing my attention to the S problem with both hands being occupied. I can get rid of my shield without issue.
Thanks!
I wanted an alternate damage type to the fire from green flame blade, and ray of frost slows enemies down. I'll reread sacred flame though.
Why would a V,S spell bother me? I was planning on making my staff my focus. Wouldn't that get me past the whole 'both hands are occupied' thing?
