I think it was more like one month. Close to the beginnig of the series Hiro thought it was October 2nd, but he had actually gone ahead to November 8th and seen the explosion. It appears that, because of his changes to history, the explosion happened some hours earlier in the finale.

Another good book I read recently is Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor. It tells what is supposedly the true story of Wonderland's Alice. Lewis Carroll got most of it wrong.

I like Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files series. I also agree with the recommendations of Temeraire, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell, and American Gods.
