Hogshead Publishing: Fright Night Adventures - any good?

I was going to write, but this sums up pretty exactly what I was going to write, even down to only having the Haunted House one. I've never run it, and it coud potentially kick of a campaign, but isn't really suitable to insert into an existing campaign.

d20 Star Wars Saga Edition news from Gen Con?

I thought they stated that jedi/Force Adepts were simply now using the other classes. I.e. rather than a 'Jedi-Guardian' which seems like a made up term for a fighting jedi, you'd be a Soldier with the feats and abilities to also be a jedi. Which seems much cleaner to me, as no two jedi seemed...

D20 Modern vs. Spycraft: Tell me which one you like better

Oh yah, Spycraft's all about the options.

D20 Modern vs. Spycraft: Tell me which one you like better

Of course when Spellbound comes out (shortly) we'll have magic in Spycraft too, and it's not really necessary to work for a large organisation within the rules as it stands.

Sacred Cow Death Watch: Do you use material components?

I actually tend to ignore anything that minor, usually including money for drinks in the local tavern. It's a couple of copper, whatever.

    Give me your gadgety goodness!

I'm not familiar with d20 Future's gadget system, but in Spycraft I've got use out of: Lock Seducer (poke it in a lock and it try and pick it). "painkillers" (basically generic tablets with the added ability to heal damamge) I've got a mate who likes to combine explosives with just about...

My apologies to AEG and the Spycraft team

    Another convert!

Really good things in theory, but in practice...

Magic. Looks acceptable on paper, but ends up frustrating in game. That, more than any other system in the game, leads to the D&D stereotype of resting every 2-3 encounters (which really irratates me).

    Does the Average Gamer Read?

I'm in the uK (if that matters), and I must say I know few people who don't read for pleasure, whether gamers or not. Nearly everyone I know has read Harry Potter and DaVinchi code at the least, most have read much more than that. On a personal note, I read much less than I used to, partly due...

    Wound / vitality system pros

Spycraft uses W/VP and it works very well, I think. Of course Spycraft changes quite a few other things which may impact this. Critical hits are quite altered for instance (requiring an Action Die to activate, rather than a confirmation roll) - In Spycraft armour actually lowers your Defence (AC...

    Where to start with Modern?

As far as I can gather Grim Tales is mostly the same as d20 modern, with some other bits in. Beyond the basics d20 modern and D&D are fairly different.

    Hexes NOT Squares?

I don't see as squares are much easier sinve you still have to fractionalise them - I mean how many corriddors are 5' wide? Around here they tend to be closer to 4' and if you look at castles and the like they tend to be really narrow.

    How about . . . X-Com Apocylapse

Incendiary rocked towards the end of the game (i.e. alien dimension), before then you had to be careful as I had a tendancy to destroy swathes of the landscape with it (and have to pay severe compensation).

    How about . . . X-Com Apocylapse

I was working up some rules for this in d20 modern (before I discovered spycraft - and I think SC could do it easier). But since we're talking d20 modern here... The Facehuggers I think would work best with Intelligence damage, almost like a poision, Will save each round or suffer d3 Int...

D20 Modern vs. Spycraft: Tell me which one you like better

Since hacking is governed by the Computers skill, the only thing you need to be a hacker is to take ranks in the skill, and with origins & feats, everyone can have Computer Use as a class skill - though if you're willing to pay double you can max out just as much as anyone even without said...

D20 Modern vs. Spycraft: Tell me which one you like better

A bit pointless replying on this thread at this stage, but for Espionage, Spycraft is hands-down better. D20 Modern can do it, but the biggest cool thing in Spycraft (Dramatic Conflicts) makes d20 modern seem somewhat inadequate (how would you do an exciting chase in d20 modern - you'd be...

Attack of Opportunity -- does it deserve to survive to v.4?

They've actually been there since 1st edition, just hardly quantified. Actually on retrospect I must say I'm not sure if that was an actual rule or not, but our group at least used to rule that if you tried to leave combat the monsters got a free attack on you. And to all those that say D&D...

SC2.0 conversions of d20M base classes

I've bought it somewhat out of curiousity (and because I've got a lingering player who resists spycraft because the classes ain't flexible enough). I probably won't use it, as I think Spycraft works just fine the way it is - but it's nice to have the option there. I can't foresee any problems...
