Except that it's the enemies that are Elemental, so why would there be PC options for elemental domains? And I am absolutely certain that we will be seeing more stuff soon. Including new cleric domains.

They're adding the missing cards to the deck of Elemental Evil spell cards. So anyone who buys those gets the missing cards, and if they don't need them, they can give them to their friends.

The Red Wizards are not the force behind the plot in Princes of the Apocalypse. While they both appear to deal with the power of the elements, the new book appears to be more about Elemental Evil, not a shadowy Red Wizard plot.

The one nice thing about Horde of the Dragon Queen, is that there are a couple of chapters that are essentially small short pieces that can have your own plot added, and be easily dropped into your own campaign.

I'd also like to point out that the presence of threads like this REINFORCES their decision to not announce products way ahead of time. The amount of grief directed their way for "cancelling" a book that they never even announced makes them far less likely to announce things ahead of time.

Simple. Because every time someone complains on these forums about the lack of pdfs, Wizards pushes back the release date another week. I think it's been pushed back to 2016 now.
