Review of The Fire Forest of Innenotdar (Spoilers)

I had that problem, of player's not having enough initiative. What I did was to add extra bonus things on the adventure or in an encounter or whatever. These extra things made thing go smoother, easier or made them earn extra treasure. But... They had to deal with them. I set up those...

WotBS Running Innenotdar WotBS #2 (spoilers)

Oh, I see. From the potions dynamic, and what the adventure expected, I ruled from the bieginning that horses wouldn't enter into the fire forest. After reading the initial description, the player's themselves understood/agreed with this.

    Non-AC Defenses

100% agree with KarinsDad. If they didn't you would have to have another mechanism to increase character's damage, FRWs, etc. I'm not saying it would be worse, but you can't get rid of stat increase without introducing another mechanic.

    Non-AC Defenses

I was reluctant too. It brings some preerquisites requirements problems, which I didn't account for. But this seems the solution that brings: - a smoother progression - works well with the Character Builder (the +1 to FRWs is a little bit difficult) - solves the problem (it still leaves the...

WotBS Running Innenotdar WotBS #2 (spoilers)

How is that possible? You find Khadral at the end of Day 1, and Torrent has potions for all the trip, that should take 3 days. I assumed Torrent had something like 4 days worth of potions (25 potions), a little bit more, just in case something happens. Then, when the party brings along Crystin...

Review of The Fire Forest of Innenotdar (Spoilers)

I agree that you shouldn't force the curiosity down their throats. But in the case of loose ends, or lack of information, that get's solved by having a clear picture, and asking questions. Having a clear picture can be accomplished having summaries, as Morrus said. I do that sometimes. The...

    Thanks! :D

    Non-AC Defenses

My houserule to solve this is: - +1 to FRW at levels 5, 15 and 25 - Increase 3 instead of 2 stats at level 4,8,14,18,24,28 (and get rid of certain feats and items)

WotBS Running Innenotdar WotBS #2 (spoilers)

Today I begun running The Indomitable Fire Forest of Innenotdar (I loooove spelling it all) to one of my groups. In the first encounter I wasn't totally sure about how I handled it. Is it as simple as putting the fire out of Durval and that's it? He's alive? Wasn't he an undead? What if he...

Review of The Fire Forest of Innenotdar (Spoilers)

I know what you are talking about, it happens to me all the time. Sometimes it's my fault that I deliver badly the information the player's need. In that case, I try to retcon (sp?) or ammend as much as I can. I even go to the extreme of not penalizing the players at all. But sometimes, their...

Review of The Fire Forest of Innenotdar (Spoilers)

I read you so far :D One lesson I've learned with this path is never to force NPCs to make things work. It's the player's job to do that, and to face the consequences. But then again, I'm only beginning to run Innenotdar today.

Durn's War of Fire and Ice Campaign Discussion

Yes , it is longer, but since you are not travelling a forest on fire, and you are going through a civilized area, you could go faster (on horse, through roads) and thenyou could catch a ship. One of my groups actually wanted to do that, and I had a very hard time convincing them otherwise. On...

    SCs: Tailored to the party?

Keterys, that's the whole point. Why bother tailoring the SCs to the party, if ANY outcome moves the sotry forward? Seems like the success or failure of a SC moves the sotry in one way or another, and it seems sensible that that way is the one the party is tailored for.

    SCs: Tailored to the party?

DMG2 states: "Know what skills your player character's are good at, and tailor your challenges to those skills." This brings several problems: - You can't have "general" SCs (as in modules, or for typical situations) - Adds the burden of knowing your characters to the problem of making a...

    Spoilers needed for Innenotdar (SPOILERS!!!!)

Thanks again Wickett, and BTW, Morrus and all company: I LOOOVE how you are adding stuff and fleshing out the world (compared to what little I read from the 3.5 version) So these creatures are myth, but they are real, Epic creatures I assume.

    Spoilers needed for Innenotdar (SPOILERS!!!!)

Great info Wickett. Thank you very much. And as he said, if this has changed, feel free to drop by :) Are these Dragons and Coaltongue somehow related to the myth of the Dragon, the Kraken, the Eagle and the Worm?

WotBS My Wotbs So far... possible spoilers

LOL One of my parties didn't get along well with her because she didn't know well how to reach Lyceum. They expected a more clear cut mission. They later increased their animosity because she didn't get involved in things that concerned her, and left the players to their own devices. The...

WotBS My Wotbs So far... possible spoilers

Isn't it weird that they are leaving out Torrent for a metagamey reason instead of a roleplayinjg one?

    Spoilers needed for Innenotdar (SPOILERS!!!!)

Yes EugeneZ, you are right (AFAIK). I thought that the song was a simple song or something else that *happened* to make the Trillith loose their insubtantiality. It seems I was wrong. Thanks for pointing that out. So, what about these dragons? Are they alive? What happened to them?
