    Fear of the Mind Flayer

The party will be: Rogue 6, Warblade 6, Druid 7 and Bard 7 Any comments? I´m thinking of changing the Mind Blast Power to something more fun. First, it´ll be a swift action to activate it. Second, it will only last for 1 round. Third, although considered stunned, the victim can still make a...

    Fear of the Mind Flayer

Hi, it´s my frist time that I´ll run an encounter of a party of 6th level characters vs a mind flayer. My fear is that of an unfun TPK. The MF´s power is essentially a save or loose area at-will ability that ir can use every round. It seems that the better tactic for it is to mind blast every...

    Scrolls of Swift Spells

By the rules these scrolls would require a Standard Action to activate. But Complete Adventurer introduces scrolls of several swift spells from that book, but they UI can´t seem to find any clarification on their activating times. Is that a mistake or are these scrolls supposed to activate as...

    Ability penalties don´t stack

I now read Fell Weaken. It explicitly says it doesn´t stack with itself, that is, that multiple spells with this feat applied dont stack their strength penalties. But that´s not my question, though, sorry if I wasn´t clear. My question was on the line of what Pyrex said: Does a Ray of...

    Ability penalties don´t stack

Thanks Hyp. But these spells give a penalty to an Ability, not a roll or check. Do penalties for abilities follow the same rules?

    Ability penalties don´t stack

Ability penalties don´t stack Where does it says so? I have a debate over Fell Weaken and Ray of Enfeeblement not stacking, and I think that they don´t stack because they are both penalties. The other guy says they stack because they are not the same source/effect.

Spiked Chain + Great Cleave = DM's Nightmare

You don´t have to stop sending hordes to them. You have to stop sending hordes only to them. Give that horde a spellcaster, an elite archer and/or a big brute. Or all three of them. Now all the party have a fight. In fact, a horde should always be at least with a leader.

    Does RoE affect undead?

Penalties, such as this from RoE should not stack, but I can´t seem to find where is this ruled. Anyone?

How Charm Person and Monster work?

How does it work, or how do you handle it in your tables? I´m sure the charmed creature doesn´t attack the charmer, but what about it´s allies? What about the charmer allies?

    Too much non-lethal damage

I seem to recall a rule that when you received more non-lethal damage than you total hit points, you began to receive lethal damage. But I can´t find that rule. Is this right or am I just pulling this out from thin air?

    Favored Enemy Rationale

And would the ranger know the difference before the attack? And would the ranger know the difference after the attack?

    Favored Enemy Rationale

Where does Favored Enemy extra damage come from? Is it because of hate? Is it because of knowledge? Is it magical, like a bane weapon? More importantly... when does it not apply? I find hard to adjudicate a situation where the ranger doesn´t know the type of the creature (a disguised elf...

    Avoiding Gaze Attacks

If a player wins initiative at 30 ft of a Bodak as you say, he must roll a Fort save onthe beginning of his turn, no matter how early he acts. So he can´t avoid the need for a save even if he wins initiative.

    Avoiding Gaze Attacks

When avoiding a Gaze Attack, averting eyes, or closing your eyes, is reactive to the attack, or it must be done in your turn (i.e. is it an inmediate action or a free action)? This is the description of Gaze And here is the description for Gaze Attacks In particular, this piece of text that...

Blade of Blood - ouch ouch ouch!

Where´s that spell from? It DOES seem overpowered... Flame of Faith, a 3rd level spell from Complete Divine, grants you +1d6 fire damage for 1 round per level (and makes your weapon magic +1)

    Good Slaves?

No necesarily, a 5th level cleric can curse the slave to have a -6 Wis and a -4 to all saves, to hit, etc. That´s a -7 to Will Saves.
