Do wands destroy the 3.x adventure paradigm?

Just as Shilsen, I´ve found that wands forbids me to deteriorate the party hit points-wise, combat after combat. The problem is those encounters were the ONLY resource the party expends is hit points, in which case, they patch up with healing wands and the resources expended by the party are...

[Eberron] Lords of the Dust Minions

In the ECS it's mentioned that the LotD are Raksashas (sp?), and "other devils". But, AFAIK, it never mentions which are. What creatures are or should be in allegiance with the LotD? Aberrations? Goblinoids? Devils?

    Meeting prerequisites for crafting items

A Kalashtar Wizard wants to make Elven Boots. He meets all prerequisites except "Creator must be an Elf". Can he collaborate with another character to meet this requirement? How?

    Homonuculus in Eberron

Yet, there's an homonuculus that's supposed to provide flanking (the Harrier?) Those two were the most useful, IMHO. But the messenger in particular, seems pretty weak for adventuring. A familiar seems more useful.

    Homonuculus in Eberron

Are Homonuculus worth it? In Magic of Eberron and in the ECS, there are several homonuculus. But they are CR 1/2 to 1, cost 1250 gp and 150 xp aprox. I can't imagine a PC or NPC making an homonuculus. Why should they?

    Discussing a WotC Product

Where should I discuss a rule / creature / etc. from a sourcebook. Specifically, I want to discuss about Homonuculus from Magic of Eberron and the Eberron Campaign Setting, it's playability, it's possible uses and it's play balance.

Vampire Slam Attack and Negative Levels

Ok, now´s that more clearer to me. Thanks!

Vampire Slam Attack and Negative Levels

A Vampire that deals 1d6+3 slam damage, and 2 negative levels is effectively dealing 1d6+13 damage? 1d6+3 + 10 (5 for each negative level). Is this right?

    readying actions

No, AFAIK I see no problem with this. I´m even more lenient. And I still don´t get any problems. Note that once the rogue acts, he usually blows his cover. That is, he can stll hide, but the enemies know his there, and can choose not to expose themselves to a sneak attack. (conditions and...

    Creating Scrolls with another caster

Thanks Hyp, could you highlight why/how the rules support this? (i.e. rule´s quote)

    D&D 3.x 3 vs 3.5 which is better for a newbie?

I recommend 3.5 too. Fewer unbalances that may "corrupt" you vision of the game.

    Creating Scrolls with another caster

In my group we´ve been arguing about if a Wizard could create a scroll of Cure Light Wounds if a Cleric assisted him (a Cleric without the Scribe Scroll feat, that is). Is this possible? If it is, can you post how the rules support this? If this is not possible, why? FYI the arguments goes...

Would you give your 2nd level party 30 thousand gold?

Well, in an Undermountain campaign I had, I gave the 4th level party... 6.660.000 gp worth in gems (1332 gems, 5000 gp each) plus an gem the size of a man's head (200.000 gp) Needless to say, the party/campaign went down. Most players wouldn't retire their PCs (even though they were in for...

Is a coup de grace an evil act?

I don't think CdG is evil. But it would have been an evil act in that situation (in the OP). I think your DM ruled right. Note that the Bandit didn't attacked you, they offered surrender. Even under threat you nevertheless ruined any hope of parlay by unilateraly casting a spell (I would have...

a test for all ruleset tweakers, tinkerers, and houserule madmen

GlassJaw, you are completely on track. That's something that's commonly overlooked. The Why is fundamental to any rules tweaking.

    Smart Illusion Spells

I hate how DMs lack of imagination nerf Illusions. That's the only reason I wouldn't use them. OTOH, is so obvious when you cast an illusion spell that it really screws the illusionist's job.

Has anything ever broken your game?

Nothing has ever broken my D&D games. We spotted the malicious rule/Feat/Class/etc and modified/banned it inmediatley.

Classes and Levels or Point buy

Class and level systems don't prevent you from that. In Rolemaster you can be Lvl 20 and have the hitpoints of a 1st level wizard, if you don't develop that area of your character. The same could be done with other aspects of the character.

    Best Magic System

I didn't vote, because I think all of the above should be present in a Magic System. Fantasy is populated with examples of all of the above. So all of them should be present. A system so complete, seems a bit complicated. But then, I think magic should be complicated.
