    DESPERATELY need a Business Manager!!!

I'll throw up some flash examples and put a bid in, but I'd like to know what the scope of the project is (the snippet above doesn't tell me much, and I've never attended the Ennies). Do you have an RFP, by chance?

I'd be worse than Tewligan, since I read that post, didn't catch the misspelling...then laughed until I cried when Tewligan pointed it out. *sigh* Only telling everyone my IQ score would make me feel better at this point...

    Gamer stereotypes

You can be antisocial and still be part of a group. Criminals are antisocial. I believe that "antisocial" can mean that you have a contempt for the social norm. I know I do. :D I won't be doing criminal activity anytime soon though...

I'm gonna have to 2nd Mr. No-stick Billy. Dude.... Have you ever been to a gaming convention?!? We're the socially inept underbelly of society! I'll be preemptive here - for those of you who would reply that you are "normal"...that's fine, but it's a matter of statistical average. Stigmas...

Have a plot idea, need brainstorming (TEWLIGAN STAY OUT)

Alright, the situation: The PCs defeated an adult red dragon, who has now returned. Rather than trapping the group in combat right away, I'm taking a different approach. This dragon is bent on making a name for herself. Prior to her confrontation with the PCs, she was building up the...

When gaming groups and campaigns collapse

I'd agree with MerricB - the main cause for us has been real life. One couple had children (3 of them, to be exact), another player had work schedule conflicts, another player had a wife that didn't game, etc. I feel fortunate in that I've had some long-standing campaigns. My average campaign...

    GenCon newbie....advice needed

A couple more suggestions while I'm thinking of it: 1. last year, the lines were TERRIBLE. It helped to already have most of my event tickets. It mitigated the amount of time that I had to spend in line, which was nice. So, register for events early. As soon as the schedule is available...

Ha! The "swashbuckler guy" who never showered or changed out of his outfit entered into legend with our group. I suppose it depends on what you wish to accomplish - if you want to be talked about after the con, there is an easy road to infamy!

Clue me in here...are you looking for a place that hosts message boards for you to use, or are you looking for free message board code that you can place on your website with little or no effort? If it's the latter, and your webhost supports ASP, I'd look at www.aspin.com It has some great...

Fathead's GenCon suggestions My suggestions: 1. As everyone mentioned, definitely book everything early. The good rooms tend to sell out fast (as you may have guessed by some of the recent threads). 2. Definitely sit down and make a schedule of events. Plan in demos as well and take an...

I think the "incomplete information" that you mentioned was purposeful. The player vs. GM attitude aside (which was part of the "parody"), I think they were trying to recreate the nostalgia. My fond memories of playing D&D so many years ago included, as a player, not knowing every item in the...

That is true, but there are ways to mitigate that, just as there are with other game systems. How many of us, as DMs, actually track encumbrance or spell components of PCs? I barely have time to properly flesh out the next adventure, let alone hassle with mundane crap that doesn't affect the...

I'll definitely agree with that. If you're going for newbie friendly, you should reconsider on Hackmaster. If you're already familiar with 1st/2nd edition rules though, you're already familiar with the core mechanics.

I do admit, WOTC made a lot of changes. I think the 3E game mechanics are pretty solid though. Believe, it was MUCH better than what was originally delivered to the playtesters. I was so discouraged with the original game mechanics that I gave up playtesting the game. In retrospect, I...

I'm curious...what did you find to be awful about the skill system? Expanded initiative system? There isn't much added to initiative, other than accounting for readied weapons and the difference in spellcasting initiatives... :fathead scratches his enormous monkey noggin

    hackmaster

Hackmaster goes a lot further than 1st/2nd edition. If it were merely a repeat of existing material with parody added, I wouldn't bother. I have all of the core books...I wouldn't need any others. It goes much deeper than that. Oh wait...was that a rhetorical question? :D

I know people that would agree with you. I will say that, with the modules you are DEFINITELY going to get the silliness. According to Kenzer's agreement with WOTC, they HAVE to write in parody, otherwise they can't rewrite and reproduce old modules. In fact, they've had to go through several...
