Wherein nerds rage over what it means to be fantasy

For any of us who remember when Eberron came out, I think we all have 'fond' memories of the "trains, planes and robots don't belong in D&D!" whargarbl that was so prevalent... Well, history always repeats itself, and yet another popular fantasy RPG is experiencing growing pains as it...

    A D&D Edition... into a SINGLE picture... (?)

I know that we're not supposed to explain these, but I do want to mention that my interpretations are not based on the pictures themselves (i.e. color, quantity, etc is irrelevant), I just picked what was convenient, and nor is the relative size of the dice (i.e. one die having more sides than...

    A D&D Edition... into a SINGLE picture... (?)

Protip: To get the most enjoyment out of this thread, ignore everything except for the pictures. Don't read anything. No, not even this. Stop. Now. Go look at pictures, and post some of your own. EDIT: And most importantly, don't *respond* to any pictures. If you like a set, give the poster an XP.

I like 4e, and I like WoW. 4e's my favorite version of D&D, and WoW's my favorite MMO. In case you missed it, everything I posted was a point in the evolution of MMOs. In the future, perhaps you should be less condescending and actually consider what is there rather than leaping to assumptions.

    A D&D Edition... into a SINGLE picture... (?)

Actually kind of glad I was wrong and this thread didn't get locked. Some good stuff and, yeah, some of it may seem inflammatory, but the prohibition against explanation mutes it nicely. 1e 2e 3e 4e

I dunno about that... If you think of it as just some little toy? Perhaps. But think of it, instead, as a household appliance, comparable to a stove, dishwasher, washer/dryer, etc. I could totally see these things becoming a standard part of modern life, and I think it's not an issue of price...

Huh, I thought this stuff was common knowledge... Look into RepRap, which is a free, open source 3d printer designed to be made out of as much plastic as possible so that it can actually print copies of itself (there are a number of parts that it can't replicate, e.g. metal rods, but it's still...

Ah, I apologize... Given the staggeringly-similar layout and nature of the offering, I assumed the site was a direct copy of Kickstarter (in particular, Kickstarter only draws the funds at the end of the period and only if the funding goal was reached, which ensures that as long as you did your...

Neat idea, though I think they're too big (too tall, in particular). Very reminiscent of heroscape. Just from sheer size, I don't really see it being feasible to carry around enough of these to do anything interesting. But I can't help but laugh at the not-Kickstarter fundraiser. They're...

Lucky you, there's a sequel out for it now. I had to wait months. :p

    Stat block parser?

o_0 Masterplan itself? Granted, I haven't taken a look at the program since shortly after it stopped allowing you to directly access the DDI database, but I distinctly recall it supporting copy-and-paste of text blocks as an entry method.

    [Book] Mob Rules

Just finished Skeleton Crew... Another great book. Question with a spoiler about the end... Why does Anton's ghost stick around the between? He seemed pretty satisfied at the end, and he was released by a xolo... It seems kind of odd to me that his ghost didn't find its eternal rest.

    AP's for Savage Worlds?

To expand on this, Savage Worlds is a generic system, and there are a number of setting books (50 Fathoms, Necropolis, etc). These setting books usually have a "plot point" campaign, which is sort of like a more open adventure path. There's a nice description on the Peg Inc website.

    Descriptive vs. Thematic names

The talent trees are actually already grouped up a bit; the idea was inspired by the MMO Rift. There are going to be 4 broad classes (Warrior, Mage, Cleric, Rogue) (although I may roll cleric and mage together), and each class will have its own list of talent trees to choose from.
