New Critical Hits... good or bad?

Minion rules were suppose to take care of quite a bit of this, I think it will be fairly rare for either the PC's or the baddies to roll a 20 and not score a critical as long as everything is level appropirate. What I hated about 2e was the fact that the only way Mr. Skeleton could hit an AC -5...

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Disarming and pinning are both covered, disarming is specificaly stated in certain powers, pinning as in =helpless no longer exists outside of KO'ing them. The fighter power is fine, it is suppose to wipe out a bunch of minions... Immersion, it is a fantasy game, there are tons of examples...

    Wall Area Q

Sorry, there is no vertical in 2d, there is simply length and width, or if you prefer X and Y axis. Vertical is only in 3d or if you prefer the Z axis. The only time I can see height making a difference is in the Heroic tier where there is limited flight and limited large monsters. I mean...

    Skill challenges and tactical choice

I think if tactical choice was in skill challenge as you describe we'd have even more folks complaining about 4e being al combat, just in different formats...

    4E Art Direction--Yay or Nay

Variable, unfortunately in my opinion the two extremes are side by side... Eladarin are gorgeous, elves are umm two dimensional, bland, and look like an Intro to Acrylics Shading piece... What's funny is the same artist has some of the great two page art done as well...

Chariots of Fire - The beach scene

You can't double move when you are slowed and you can't run when slowed. Both of those change your speed for that round and slow specifically states that your speed cannot be above 2. Both of the above imply that your speed becomes the new value when you run. Once again, your speed becomes...

    Some rule clarification please?

Amazingly enough I have never trained fighting in chainmail, yet I've worn it around with no training at all. It does make many things much harder to do, like picking something up off the ground, or performing certain bodily functions, or carrying more than two beers... With "proper" planning...

    Why the focus on criticals?

Well they made less swingy and made them more swinger. ;) So most of the "perks" of the "crit powers" don't do direct damage, the have other effects instead. Course crits are still pretty swingy at higher levels with magical items +5d6 isn't something to scoff at when it is a starting point...

    Alleluia, Praise the lord Ioun!

You only use move actions when in combat, so it just follows you the rest of the time, when you get in combat either you can move it or you can move yourself... It's a MULE, not a mule. ;)

    Adding Templates To Solos

I'd assume (or if it is not clearly defined, I'd take) the same XP "jump" up for each template. So adding one template is a *2 xp boost and then adding a second one would be a *2.5 xp boost. Then compare that new total to the Xp values for encounters and "find the fit" so it might becomea Solo...

Take a feat get armor prof... no drawbacks?

Well except for either the skill check, movement, or both penalty that all Heavy Armour provides, yes. However, given even Cloth armour only provides a 15% difference in being hit vs. AC with a 20 in Int or Dex, 20% for an 18, and that is versus Plate, I don't think many Wizards will waste the...
