    D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual 2 or Player's Handbook 2?

I'd love another monster book, long before another PHB. Playing some high-level 5th Edition has shown that there is a dearth of good foes about level 10. Granted, you can put together some compelling encounters with lower-CR baddies, but it would be nice to have a few more go-to solo monsters...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Lichway - IC Thread

Chew, chew. With the others moving in, Javier stepped through the doorway. He squinted at the doors before he moved to the opposite, where there was no knocking. He braced his shield against the door and leaned in close to listen. [roll0]

    D&D 5E (2014) The Lichway - IC Thread

The big man glanced at the captain and Ethian, and snorted as the cleaning took place. Chew, chew. He seemed content to stand there, his shield held in his off-hand, waiting for someone to move into the dungeon.

[roll0] Let's see if I'm smart enough to figure out the system!

    Kiraya's Konundrum (Unemployed)

I'll echo the sentiment from the rest of the thread; take care of yourself first. We'll be here when you're ready. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) The Lichway - IC Thread

Chew, chew. "Trust Rurik to find a drink anywhere," Javier observed, watching the dwarf sniff the flask. "Hey Rurik, anything in there?" He listened to Nissa and Mistral as they debated which door to open, but if the big man had any wisdom to share, he didn't offer it. Instead he unstrapped...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Lichway - IC Thread

Javier walked towards the rest of the group and the door, his eyes lingering on the lethargic dwarf still in the boat. No doubt Ruric was fussing with something. Still chewing on the bit of leather, he stepped up and joined the back of the group. Chew, chew. "Is loot a better word?" he...

Yeah, Javier's disadvantage offsets his bonus. Consider him middling for stealth. He CAN pick locks, just not very well.

    D&D 5E (2014) The Lichway - IC Thread

Watching the others get ready and clamber out of the boat, Javier cracked his neck, then stood slowly. He had good balance; the rocking of the boat didn't seem to slow him any as he collected his ratty, mud-caked pack and slung it over one shoulder. Then he stepped off the boat and onto the...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Lichway - IC Thread

Javier squinted at the sight of the Lichway. The warrior didn't bother to get up, seated somewhere in the middle of the boat. A ratty brown cloak provided scant protection against the weather, and his boots were well-worn and travel-stained. His jaw moved as he chewed on a small bit of...

    D&D 5E (2014) CR 13 dragon beaten by level 7 party observations

I'm pretty sure legendary actions are only for in combat, since they function between the turns of combatants. Also, I don't think it's at all reasonable to assume the dragon would be constantly sitting there, making perception checks while he's out of combat. That's what passive perception is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Legendary Item Creation

Noteworthy to think that a given smith will only produce one such item in their entire career. This makes a legendary magic item a life's work (a sentiment that fits well with fantasy lore and mythology). Even an elven crafter would only produce twenty or so of these over a thousand year...

    D&D 5E (2014) First time D&D player

I hadn't seen that before. Very cool! I'm going to have to put that on my list of things to buy in the future. Hah, especially if the NPC adventurers get praise heaped upon them by everyone... have the whole town buzzing about these 'noble heroes', give them medals, have a feast... I...

Perfect. Javier's not a drunk, but he does enjoy his alcohol. He would probably scoff at Rurik's refined taste and complain that real dwarves ought to drink more than him, but secretly be pleased that he can rely on Rurik to be the sober one.

Javier is opportunistically hitching along for sure. How about Rurik, Kaodi? Would we know each other?

    D&D 5E (2014) [Rogues Gallery] The Lichway

Javier the Rat He stands a few inches over six feet and weighs a good two hundred some odd pounds. He's big and muscular, but he tends to slouch most of the time. His hair is long and unkempt, and he hasn't shaved yet this week. His beard grows in patchy. Rogue 1 Male Human (variant) (boosted...

In my mental image, he's wearing metal armor. He doesn't quite feel like a grizzled soldier in studded leather. I did consider that for a while, though. Ultimately, I want to see how interesting a rogue is when posing as a fighter. :)
