    D&D 5E (2014) So who played 5E D&D recently?

I was travelling in Montreal, and I signed up to play a game of D&D at a local game shop. I wound up DM'ing instead when the scheduled DM was sick. I had an absolute blast running 'Tales Trees Tell', one of the D&D Expeditions.

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

(OOC: I`m in the opposite situation; I return from vacation today! So no more posting from tablet or hostel computers, I`ll be able to post much better from here on out.)

    D&D 5E (2014) A Glimpse Of High-Level Play

Yes me too. Cannon fodder let's me impress people with my dungeon's lethality without murdering PCs. Also, it gives me people who can inject some flavour into the rp. I greatly enjoyed playing up how Gunter never spoke more than three words at a time, while my elves were brilliant singers...

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

( OOC: I`m now on a computer where I can make the initiative roll and link it. 12 on the dice, 15 with bonuses. Link: http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4706983/ )

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

(OOC: Could you roll initiative for me? Trying to post while travelling, can't figure out how to link things on these comps (copy/paste doesn't work)) Doctor Elle Sanguine watched with rapt attention; she had found a good vantage point from a small catwalk, where her holorecorder could get a...

D&D 5E (2014) Published Adventures: Yea or Nay?

I run and play homebrew, mostly. But I won't hesitate to run an adventure that catches my interest. Or to steal one and plunk it down in my campaign. The important part is that the table is having fun!

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

"Babylonian? Latin?" the doctor echoed, the catwalk apparently forgotten. The marines' suggestion that she get to safety had been entirely ignored. "That is utterly fascinating." She took a moment to gather her thoughts, still holding her holorecorder. "Ask it what its name is. There may...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rise of Tiamat review

I'm most of the way through the beta version of this. I had to do some work to tweak or fill out content, but the results have been well worth it. I even threw in a side quest to go lead an army in Amn, and now my PCs are assaulting a lich before returning to the council. (Same group from my...

    D&D 5E (2014) Good Campaign Hooks?

I just wanted to say that this sounds like a wonderful, evocative setting. I hope your PCs have fun with it! As for a suggestion, what if one of the PCs suddenly inherits a shop from one of Bob's victims? That gets them into town AND gives them a stake in things!

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

Even Doctor Sanduine couldn't stay oblivious forever. As the situation became more tense, she felt a marine grab her shoulder and haul her back. The doctor bit back an acerbic reply; the man was ignoring her anyway, and she instead turned her eyes on the room at large. She should be recording...

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

Emma stared at the creature, incomprehending of its language. She didn't seem to notice the chaos going on around her; she was only tangentially aware of the shouting, and more as a nuisance to her academia than as something to be heeded. She scowled, and began to walk closer. "What are you...

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

Doctor Sanduine gasped as her hand was snatched. It seemed to break the spell; she blinked, startled, her hand lowered forcibly by the woman. Who was this rough lady to handle her so? She was a scientist, after all! She knew what she was doing! She opened her mouth to say so, but then the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

Doctor Sanduine snapped out of a daze, her eyes drawn to the hyperdrive. She knew what it was. Someone, desperate to make sense of it, had shown her the documents when the Arkships were being finalized for launch. It was a fascinating piece; almost immediately, she forgot entirely about the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus

Muttering under her breath, Emma returned to her quarters. She collected her long trenchcoat and slipped it on, before returning to the corridor on her quest for the bridge.

D&D 5E (2014) Are Challenge Ratings of dragons accurate in 5ED&D?

I think so. I'm quoting from memory here, though, so I may be wrong.

    D&D 5E (2014) Exodus (OOC)

I'm in the alpha, so I'd already seen it. My biggest challenge with the NDA is seeing homebrew stuff that's like the DMG stuff and not being able to say anything. Also, great intros everyone. I really love all the little character flourishes. Looks like this will be a great game!

D&D 5E (2014) Are Challenge Ratings of dragons accurate in 5ED&D?

I am talking about the closed alpha. Ancient red's bite was for 3d10 and change plus 3d8 fire; a scary, respectable amount for what ought to be the toughest ancient dragon in the land. Compare with the CR 5 bulette for instance...

D&D 5E (2014) Are Challenge Ratings of dragons accurate in 5ED&D?

Dragon breath weapons are the only place where they are competitive. The damage from claws and bite were double what they are now during the latest parts of the playtest. They got nerfed hard on AC, hit points, and damage for the final release. It's to the point that I'm using playtest damage...

    D&D 5E (2014) A Glimpse Of High-Level Play

Oh, derail away! You just hit 11th, so that qualifies as a glimpse of high level play, right? :D As for my game, we finally had our follow-up session. At the conclusion... Melvina (our human cleric) had been disintegrated by the lich. Borzin (the dwarf barbarian with sacks of hit points)...
