    Scheduling for IRON DM 2013!

Mine too. After taking a few hours to relax and do other things, I came back and read your entry, Wicht. Nice work! I really liked your use of the elements. The craziest thing... My current 5th Edition campaign features a haunted town protected by a family of druidic werewolves, one of whom...

    IRON DM 2013--Entries, Judgements, Commentary, & Trash-Talk

A Case Of Mistaken Identity The Elements Poison Pill - The jar of lightning Salander carries to slay the god is a poison pill. It is not a conventional weapon, but rather must administer the poison (the lightning) to Asceon's core. Decrepit Bridge - The bridge of the crashed starship that...

    Scheduling for IRON DM 2013!

I'm liking these ingredients. I've got a concept in mind, just a matter of fleshing it out. But the ingredients play together very nicely.

    Scheduling for IRON DM 2013!

I'm all set for this too. Wicht, I look forward to a good competition. Best of luck. On that note, I return to my campaign prep for tonight. I can't wait to have treants lumber out of the woods to attack the wagon while dryads lure PCs off into the woods. :D

    Scheduling for IRON DM 2013!

That's fine. It'll be fun to ride the rush of a good gaming session right into the competition and have the creative juices already flowing. :)

    Scheduling for IRON DM 2013!

I'm PST here and I'm running my weekly game that evening. I was hoping for a ten or eleven PST start. Or a Wednesday start. If necessary for scheduling, though, I could go.

    Scheduling for IRON DM 2013!

Tonight would not be great, since I work both tonight and tomorrow morning. Tuesday night / Wednesday would be perfect for me. But if needs be, I can jump in whenever.

Oh! Count me in! It's been a blast to participate each time I've been able!

    D&D 5E (2014) Wandering Monsters: Big Beasts

I agree! I would love to see a huge ape in the MM. Can you picture him now, climbing to the top of the tallest tower, princess in hand while gryphon riders fly around, launching crossbow bolts at him?

Playtest Campaign: Dread, The Dead, And The Downpour

Session One - Ribbon's Eve Our session began on the morning of Ribbon’s Eve. The people of Croft were preparing to celebrate; all day long, they would drink and eat and rail against The Downpour, splashing in puddles, singing and shouting, and showing that they would not be cowed by the...

Playtest Campaign: Dread, The Dead, And The Downpour

My group and I have been fairly active with the 5th Edition playtest. We have run a number of one-shot games, and I ran a short campaign with the December packet. We spent a few weeks playing board games (Eclipse and Middle Earth Quest, for those curious), but now we're ready to get back into...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wandering Monsters: Big Beasts

I'm strongly in favor of including dinosaurs in the core books for two reasons. 1 - I like dinosaurs. 2 - A young, impressionable gamer may, while paging through the Monster Manual, flip open a page and recognize the magnificent beasties there. And he may be inspired. Sure, dragons do that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

Sure, have adjustment guidelines. But I think at least three species would be appropriate for each. One for low level, one for low-mid, and one for mid-level. I don't think a high-level one ought to be a natural monster. That's what the demon spiders and purple worms are for.

    D&D 5E (2014) The new Bless

I like the fact that it feels really worth the while to arm and cast it. Bless of old always felt like a wasted spell slot. Now it feels really potent.

D&D 5E (2014) Vault of the Dracolich - Game Day report

We had some new players as well, and it went fine. Of course, my table only had one new player and four experienced ones, so that might have been part of it. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Wandering Monsters: Creepy and Crawly—Simultaneously!

This is the first Wandering Monsters column I've vehemently disagreed with. Why can't we have a whole host of different-sized scorpions? I think he's on the right track with 7 or so distinct spiders, but scorpions (giant or otherwise) are nearly as big of a fantasy critter. There should be a...

    D&D 5E (2014) June 17 Legend & Lore - Playtesting Dragons

They represent the sheer force of will such an ancient and powerful creature has, to be able to resist the effects of mortal magic that would render it helpless. I have no problem with this.

D&D 5E (2014) Vault of the Dracolich - Game Day report

Thanks for the report! I enjoyed reading it. I played this adventure at my LGS, and it was a phenomenal experience. I was one of the few who survived the whole adventure (through rolling two nat 20s on death saves).
